A California company founded on a new way to mark and remember the passing of loved ones by creating memorial forests is expanding into areas near Yosemite and outside Placerville.Better Place Forests announced the creation of two more conservation memorial forests in the Sierra Nevada region: a 170-acre site near Yosemite National Park and a 48-acre location near Pollock Pines. These are stunning forests that are special and unique because they are one of the few places where giant Sequoias can be planted and grow, said Sandy Gibson, co-founder and CEO of Better Place Forests.The aim of the company is to partner with conservationists to preserve and protect forested areas from development while allowing people to select a memorial tree where loved ones ashes can be released and visited in a natural, outdoor setting.
