Area, i guess that is the planned search area where the ships are. the ocean shield, they re actually adding more assets to the under water area adding a british ship. the hms echo, and of course the chinese ship that reported the oppositions over the weekend. and in the same southerly location, also the same inmarsat also makes sense. and while those pings were picked up by a device the chinese were using, it is nonetheless something that you want to check out. and so they are scanning in that location. haven t heard anything from that location yet. i m told by the experts that it it is a separate thing regardless. if they heard pings there it is probably not the same point of originatation as the location where the ocean shield is. david, at this point, do you think they re going to be at this for sometime since they have not heard these pings again ....
Signals consistent with those emitted by aircraft black boxes on two separate occasions. i can tell you that ocean shield has been able to reacquire the signals on two more occasions. late yesterday afternoon and late last night perth time. the detection yesterday afternoon was held for approximately five minutes and 32 seconds. the detection late last night was held for approximately seven minutes. ocean shield has now detected four transmissions in the same broad area. yesterday s signals will assist in better defining a reduced and much more manageable search area on the ocean floor. i believe we are searching in the right area, but we need to ....
it is quite possible that there s currents down there which could have disturbed the debre and also as it was falling from the surface it would have dispersed over a large area, as well. it has been said we know more about the surface of the moon than the seabed of the ocean floor. that s probably right. we don t have accurate sampling of the currents in that particular area. the indication we have that silt is on the seabed is taken from samples taken some years ago and 130 miles away from the current position. they are in a database that we can access but gives an understanding of how little topography we have of the seabed. the concept of water movements an flows down there is one we have to take in to account. ....
447, we did about 25 square miles, i m sorry mixed miles in kilometers, 25 square miles every day. that is awfully slower than most people would go. but we wanted to go low and slow so we wouldn t miss anything. so i think you re looking just to get those in one sweep you could do those in a day or two. something like that. that is not enough to make a map, you would want to make a bigger map than just one or two swings. i m thinking a leap to cover that in the area. when you talk about the topography on the valley floor, and the valleys and peaks does the autonomous movement signal that they have proven in the past not to be too reliable. so that is problematic. the other thing is that the depth on the northern part of where the ocean shield has been is deeper than the bluefin-21 ....
