Hall of Fame entry adds to Prischak s legacy Plastics News photo by Don Loepp Joseph Prischak is considered the father of the plastics engineering technology program at Penn State Erie, which has produced more than 1,000 graduates and is the largest undergraduate plastics program in the country. 2021 is turning out to be a year of milestones for Joseph Prischak. First, the company he founded, Plastek Group, a major global injection molder and toolmaker based in Erie, Pa., was named Plastics News Processor of the Year. No ‘lapse of reason for Royce Royce Chemical Co. Wylie Royce has served as the chairman of the Plastics Industry Association; treasurer of the group’s food, drug and cosmetic packaging materials committee; board member of the Foodservice Packaging Institute; and member of Health Beauty America’s Technical Advisory Board. When Wylie Royce was announced as one of the nominees for the 2020 Plastics Hall of Fame, he joked the Plastics Academy had a momentary lapse of reason. Royce quoted the Pink Floyd song during a recent interview with Plastics News discussing his induction into the Hall. I feel like it s amazing to me on many levels, he said. Witherup s work ethic turned Conair international Vince Witherup photo When Vince Witherup joined Conair Group, the company was only making about $1 million a year in sales, but when he retired in 2007 it was making $160 million per year. Regardless of the clock, Vince Witherup worked. It wasn t something he dreaded, it was something called work ethic. He learned the value of hard work early in life. From humble beginnings in Franklin, Pa., Witherup molded himself a career after working from the age of 8. He put Conair Group on the map. He served two terms as a local county commissioner. Plastics Industry Association to present Bill Carteaux award in October The group will present its inaugural William R. Carteaux Leadership Award at a ceremony held alongside its annual meeting and the induction ceremony for new members of the Plastics Hall of Fame. March 11, 2021 Canadian Plastics Bill Carteaux The Plastics Industry Association will announce the first recipient of its new award honouring the late Bill Carteaux, its former president and CEO, during an Oct. 7 event in Florida. The inaugural William R. Carteaux Leadership Award will go to an employee of a member company of the association “who personifies the values Bill Carteaux made the hallmarks of his career – unity, dedication, perseverance and selflessness,” the association said in a March 11 news release. ....
