The Polk County Mental Health Task Force hosted a two-day virtual training and response planning process in NAMI New Hamshire’s Connect Suicide Postvention Program, a national Best Practice program in promoting healing and reducing risk in the aftermath of any sudden death, to include suicide.
Suicide is a significant public health issue, which has a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities. Every suicide death leaves behind many family members, friends, and others (suicide loss survivors) who continue to be greatly affected by their death. Community providers in the Polk County community have made suicide postvention and loss survivor support a priority by partnering with the NAMI NH Connect Suicide Program to train 25 community providers in sudden death loss (suicide postvention), and by providing resources and supports for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.  ....
