that s where kpix 5 s joe vazquez is now. joe? reporter: and ken, everything was fine when they left san francisco, but as this plane started approaching hawaii, passengers say they heard a loud bang, and then violent turbulence. was crying. a bunch of people were crying all around us. we were bracing for the worst, like â what if this actually lands on the water. as the flight approached dants told e the plane just jolted and started to shake. reporter: passengers quickly looked out their windows and captured this shocking sight on their cell phones. the engine was missing its cover. shards of metal flew off. we were just crying because we d never been through this experience and thought we were going to die. reporter: a google engineer posted this video of the plane continuing on with the bumpy flight and kept his sense of humor posting this photo that said i didn t anything about this in the manual. others were emotional. my mom was crying, other people ....
