Hospitalizations from COVID-19 are down, and so is the positivity rate for new cases The positivity rate in Friday's report fell to 3.06%, the lowest since Health News Florida began tracking data daily in July. The positivity rate for new cases also fell to 3.06%, the lowest it's been since WUSF and Health News Florida began tracking the data daily in July.

Locally, Hillsborough, Pinellas and Hernando Counties each reported four new deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

The rate has been under 5% each day since May 10. Health experts say rates consistently below 5% could indicate community transmission is under control.
