A piece of music from vitiate that we love. And. It s all nascent. That was supposed to depict the fresh feeling. Anyway that s what you got. Proliferation of my I mean what do you call it is the word to a voice that collectively known for. A matter of months and he got. Chopped up. Think about it and Renzo says he hunts and. Sorry dear lost poles and I realize that it s quite wise people hey this is Ryan Gosling and I got the crowd Seana 2 words they would be boyfriend material. I watched a new bomb traveler again last night and wondered if I go to music edition out of a friend had heard any Goss us to the winners and died as no host contender in the house for the new Bond film thinking of putting a bet on and looking for some insider information p.s. Any truth in the room that you are reprising the role of Nick Nack in the new. My memories and stretch as far as McNabb. But yeah I mean if you know all the greats have done everything. Time with friends family obviously d moving around the country mommy ramp I ll go back to my old family seat can t break for a couple of days just think and. Watch I have to watch out of the same screech at some point on early this year Ok if everybody did what I could have think it s on Christmas Eve because instead of Christmas Eve It s 7 Brides for 7 Brothers playing time on child so you should only have the Gideon and it played by Russia family but know that what discourages on Saturday afternoon the 21st well and also the yard when she wants the house the same version you have to watch the remake the b.b.c. Remake which is. Hot off the press and he s fantastic in front of the talk to one of the stars on the show that later on well you can you ask them I look looks at the obsessive about such things problem to the cast list on in a well known listings mag and yeah and if I can t find a face the week you know it says he was on this one as far as I could well unless the credit in the cast is running Carol fine I would love to look but there s not a face a week and if I m a failure wait I m perturbed but you know there must be an explanation for it she s ridiculous who dislikes mulled wine without clothes Well I ve completely derailed this conversation which is supposed to be about new music a man right Christmas but let s talk a little bit about the track we re about to play and the album from when to does cold What s been your favorite basically a favorite track favorite album of the year the favorite track comes from one of my favorite albums the a because I think. Most people would have about 20 also records they really loved in a year and then whittling it down to 10 is very difficult meant using wanted by difficult as well but it s all floating it s all top 4 if you like which include Bill Callahan and water bucket the for me and Jessica Pratt but also purple mountains the self-titled album purple mountains this is the work of David Berman the back story of this not the back story that the sad very sad about this is that he died about a month after this record was released and for many people listening to this record is difficult for that reason I completely understand that and it will be for for a while but it is. A beautiful record the bottom line on it and it s a record which I will be celebrated as such for many years to really does deserve to be said it s a wonderful record and the chain are chosen which is highly appropriate for a day where it s raining and Kensal Green. Snow is falling in Manhattan it s just I think on a day like today whatever you re doing this is a wonderful 6 minutes to waste to lose yourself Ok both sides before teed up on this in the great things about recommenced day see some point in the direction that we need to be looking for the great new music for this listening to the new year so let s do that now this is this is one of getting favorite tracks of the purple mountains snow is falling in my home thanks gate. Thanks for that. Music News For You know and today. The b.b.c. Music sound of 2020 longest has just been revealed today this is the annual poll done by the b.b.c. Speak to 170 music industry professionals D.J. s journalist Jimmy editors 1st of all because trying to predict which artists are going to shape the sound of the coming year you asked God No never never and the thing us exactly the right decision exactly which adds more gravitas more grounded some credibility to the list actually this year as well as those people alumni previous years well asked to submit their choices so lose capacity and be audition churches or vote this year so there s obviously a certain kind of criteria for this all participants last name 3 new acts who could be performers from any John or any country whether or not they signed a kind of in the lead artist on a Top 10 album. Of or more than one u.k. Took 10 single before the 21st of October this year. And they must now already be widely known by the u.k. General public like a member of a band going solo or soap star or the winner of a national t.v. Talent show x factor or the voice or the percentage of an afternoon c.s.r. Could never be in you know sound of 20 twentieth s on pretty much the only reason you know and that s Ok I mean they ve got a pretty good history of winners I mean previous last year was taken and Sigrid before that Rabia Ok years and years Sam Smith. And you could just tell these people have been awarded the top spot over previously so it s got good form this is 10 x. You know that thing where there s a montage music and I try and they want to get it completely wrong and get. Out of sync. Sound of. Described as poet unpicking the anxieties of a generation. That. Says. Could be described as dreamy bedroom pop. Celeste very hotly tipped. Tireless souls to tug at your heartstrings is what they say. Hey I. Described. Quintet. Want to get one out of today and. Joseph describes a self-confessed emotional sad boy from Glasgow just. Let You Down with the Fed Up and down a bit just to. Be heard of as well south London stories filled with wit and romance of course deficient. This is. Expected though. This is all about. Probably the best night of the studio yeah it s good it s good progress is going to 11000000 of the dozens of ready so yeah that s the long list Ok the top 5 is going to be revealed in the New Year One artist each day from Sunday the 5th journey to the winners announced on Thursday the night of January this image feel a little bit depressed because I m always it s always after Christmas and I was feel really in any way and we also have some my kidneys great. And use an unreleased Paul McCartney album. I don t release Paul McCartney Christmas album but it s gross. Got really of course Paul wrote wonderful Christmas time which one of my Christmas song of all time we had to do this. Alone on the guitar 2 days ago. Probably isn t exist on Wikipedia and I was just looking at it so this is not an official b.b.c. Report but we could be reckoned that including royalties from cover versions of Christmas time. Makes $400000.00 a year for the song just that one which song which puts it according to Wikipedia is no basis this is not a primary source I ve not spoken to be surprised. Community. Over $50000000.00 stop I didn t speak to the b.p.i. I didn t check. The rusty whatsoever probably not true Ok but Paul has just done an interview just like very very like within the hour I would say Montague for the world one b.b.c. Radio 4 which is well worth listening to and he just stated he s recorded an album of traditional Christmas tunes to tional. Christmas songs but we re never going to hear it because it s just for a family. All. Right just think you re wondering whether to tell you about the music thing years ago I thought there s no very good Christmas records there s a Phil Spector record I like but I thought I thought I d like to something kind of traditional and simple and easy with all the All Good King Wenceslas all and so I actually went into my studio over a couple of years I made war but it s just for the family so much afraid dad s Christmas carol record comes on to your teaching to tune chain which Yeah. It s you know it s I hear you have a release is not something you ve released this is nothing released no this is just for the family that s why I was wondering whether to say anything about it or no it is it just gets brought out each year I m just a little demo but you know the kids like you know it s kind of traditional So it s something they ve heard through the years you know and now it s the grandkids get in doctrine or you sit with Mike our old record. His family. Tracy Oh. You know granddad bloody track record but I love that. Because just the idea of it is great as you say you know Mary tatts cow we have to listen to it get the rest of our going we want to have this badly I mean it s just brilliant I mean it s a really great to go on it s up online at the moment the interview that Mike is on with 7 months ago they talk about. Monday which obviously Mike has been a big 4 strong force behind how do I do meetings on Monday either. About the ecological impact of touring which has become a big thing something he s been very close to for a long time and they mention his or the fact that he s going to be headlining Glastonbury Sassi night in the Premier stage next year 50th anniversary platinum festival so on the 27th of June which is just a week after sort of 70. Birthday there asked him if he thought he d get nervous before the gig could be because you can get nervous about any concert but what I do we ve all got something like that and I consider a big thing is I m doing 10 concerts before so you get up to speed I mean you don t get an athlete who s coming into the Olympics not have been told a few races before and so you know we ve got some gigs in Europe where we re going to do. Those kind of nice to get up to speed so the idea is by the time I get to Glastonbury will just be just like another gig but of course it won t be because it s very special I m just saying for a course on the big screen. Yeah nice now love a nice warm sunny evening of that on the screen 1st we all stand together our son if you had seen I love and togetherness just insane like you I can think was fantastic. So much so I want you all that want check it out we re in the midst of 6 Music recommends day all new music this is I like to share track for this week from friends producing d.j. To me on that on b.b.c. 3 counties radio with Katrina and Donnie last week we had a massive success with a new game. And it depends I mean by success we got coalesce we got people texting and people were invested across the 3 counties they wanted to take part they were desperate to take part they were desperate It took us a long time to end this game it was a new game called do you hey why here it s very simple I m going to play you a sound effect you just have to tell me what that sound effect is it s so simple there s no hidden light or you just tell me what the sound of it sounds so simple but it s not you hear the sound and be like what is than drive you mad for the next year and the thing is you know I had this sound before producer Chris you haven t had the sound of oh no I haven t had this on this race how do you. Haven t heard the sound I have not heard the sound before actually that does worry me because if we talking about it might we sure don t worry about yeah we were all right. Christmas all we did today if you think you know what the sound is is text 13 to 3 still in Message 3. If you really comfort and you can ring us as well Oh it s oh it s one. And done you think this noise is appropriate this way I ve checked with management if you yeah not me that s never a good so I guess it s fine it s fine I don t hey they still get that for the 1st time and then I want you guys tell me you think it s Ok yeah ready right let s play you in here with. Me you. Can t refute anything I love so of noise not so well that I thing I just need to tell you what it is. It s a sound from the b.b.c. Sound effect archive but what is it any ideas guys I guess now do you have to like 3 guesses out that s going to. Get I won t tell you if you re right we re all right I think it was a lie in and then I think I heard the line farting and. That s what I would use a hand I would do you think I think it was like a pig eating something. Though it sounds like. Right. And you know that my offensive flatulence. Text number could start your message through 3 or you can ring us on our. Own here again yeah yeah sure whatever you want. I. Know that. For a start your message. Is . Not. Every someone just. Beautiful. 5 Seconds Of Summer b.b.c. 3 counties Danny and Katrina in the jocular this evening we ve had some tech. I. Can ask you to identify this sound. We ve had some suggestions. Tax us one for it with 3 star message with 3 c.r. This one comes from camp a is it pigs eating no. Seating it s not pigs eating I thought you got it in one man is it that person you told us about breakfast yet. Who kills mosquitoes with his flatulence now and now it s not my that s not right that was a story I found and talked about breakfast of the day true story we think maybe who knows if I m a force I really enjoyed waste when they were playing live on b.b.c. Introducing and would like to come out if they ever play him in the hands I think I wasted definitely at that their touring place but if you want to hear that sound again if you can identify they sound last night. But. This is so I wrong I don t think it was 3 star your message or 3 c.r. Someone out I must tell you what last week you thought no was going to get it you thought now I m going to get that sound I didn t and then right at the end of the program some troops in how down in Katrina the hacking my song and the right. Light it made me look how can I start drama will be able to identify this and looks it s definitely an animal maybe it has fallen a lessening animal advisor. Yeah I want to know the animal I want to know what they re doing and if you get both of those you win one for the free stuff you message or 3 See I m moving on from animal flatulence fine if you must just today in the office there was a big box of chocolates left out. Yet we want to how to what we want to type and then you know I saw Fifi fitting and I had every song and I washed all some people yeah but it s definitely that time of year that this is the best thing about working at Christmas that s just boxes of chocolates left everywhere Yeah and I myself went trending online today about how depending on where you live in the country. You know an effect or not effect on it just varies in terms of what your favorite selection is really makes bucks really. I m used to always having the same selection most Christmases so I can probably guess what s quite popular in my area you think yeah. Well boxes do you have to say. You can get oh my god list them all to be fair you can get here are you sad you can get quality street celebration yes you can get Freddo and friends oh yeah you can get I never thought about that you re missing one my mom is on quite a strain yet on up the street have a celebrations another month and personally I just think it s nothing one well kind that s nice which one is that lives it is all right using these. Days some people are crying he says yeah I ve always seen them as the sweets for old ladies Yeah I crave that producer Chris is looking out right how dare you not write as a lover I did I got to prove the point. He walks into that to be fair Yeah and I m just not gonna have to say depending where you live to pains which box of chocolates you prefer not which books which is which chocolate from that box you probably want the specific ones so if I run in a quality street I ll see if you are stereotypical for the Southeast oh why do you belong up north can t even remember what s in that I was confuse them and roses right quality street in them you get the one that s in the office in the minute yes right you get the highs on that one Ok or the playing for one so what s your favorite what do you think playing trumpet was out there playing Tucker is the most popular in the Southeast you walk around yes boring you know. You re a typical southern southern eastern crappiest And while this is the 1st time when cold but yeah Ok do you think. That the. Time the songs of like front. The Milky Way. So in the now that s inside of Arsenal . You ve got the 12 sons also my hometown and I don t have a had a box of ice was in there 12 crunchy So the exciting ones like oh I see something one. I think that you are probably saying fudge is the best one I like how you think that s the most popular one in the southeast yet. Incorrect wall you have right with the Southeastern is all boring Dairy Milk I don t you know I mean wow thank you I keep playing I m learning a lot so many jokes can be made for yeah I thought that was about celebrations probably the multi-user in it because they are always the 1st to go they are the fasted I like Christmas you put down your books that gone the multis on the going back. Yeah you know when seeing them now I think the last one just because such a. Priest in this neck is the one is not with you on that one you know my favorite one is the southeast enjoying Ella you have right multis estates and yeah you have to say that I think that s that s that s nationwide that s what I feel yeah standard and producer Chris of the viruses Yeah genetics but what do you think is the most typical The strawberry one. You have. Taught you should be arrested you yeah oh yeah sometimes I m not even one who do you think you will I love the strawberry 11 so it s so far out the stories by the orange one I like that over on . The prairie that we got you down and tell you because you know there is this book survives. This trophy What do you think yeah yeah incorrect it is the golden. Really yeah I like that one kind of I ve done this how about the South Yeah there s some boxes I ve been in public places but I think I m going to try that we missed I think we missed out for a joke but I m going to be that for a box of chocolates that is an experiment in the office have we stumbled. I tell you well. And then the ones that were missing what the ones that you mentioned already what I found really bizarre of the books of tomatoes when I put. In time don t worry someone someone funny Kai you can open the books. But in the army desperate for a bed in the old phrases a yeah right coming up we re going to be speaking to us about being on the b.b.c. Sound of 2020 Lakes which is an amazing achievement we re going to be talking about how many Was can tell the time and we re going to play a game of homes under the hammer. To have moved. On and. Mind takes the podium I never told you my name but I think I m. Pretty. Sure to get my. Pencil lead. Roles. I never had girls. On my phone or never remove. My nicely for to get my new clothes my leave for that young man in school I think. I got so nice right. This right. Sometimes drink it makes sometimes. Some might say just wear monkey. Face and. God never having a clue. Almost every move. My nicely for to the minute my leave for the game I m in smoke again yeah I know. Nobody told the Sun to go to someone s. Shit but I don t my one stretched it I m not sure but I mashed his Crow s inventions the Eagles encroaches been through long and Texas was maybe good lens I was a lifer insist that you get one I just finished. My taste or to get my new. Clothes. On or never. Sleep or to get my new friends or to get my. John about men. He isn t your average Joe. B.b.c. 3 counties write a stunning Katrina. Issue 3 counties right yeah I proved Katrina and Donny and I even today it was a special day for music fans Katrina you making it sound similar but it is now and it was a big day it was a lovely happy day because they say announced the b.b.c. Sound of 2020 long list it s been all over the t.v. Or on old right a stations haven t spoken about it these are the artists that apparently going to be big next year these are the ones that you should really keep an eye on last year the sound 2019 list had people on it like Sly toy who obviously went on to have quite a good year King princess always planking princess on the shy so you can usually use as is quite good it s quite good measuring stick of what s going to be really cold next year and previously you know I lose capacity s been on it yeah so many are less author and Declan McKenna and see you know if they ve blown up guaranteed someone or multiple people on that list they are going to. Be a massive Oh yes a let me go through some of the people that. If you got all I parks you ve got. You ve got Celeste you ve got easy life Georgia in Highland Joseph joy croaks squared and young blood if you got your money on all been top of the short list if someone was going to go like make it in America next year and someone is going to be like a superstar Yeah I think George is great and I think Celeste is really cool yeah I like Peabody Bay But say how things really are parks in fact earlier today you and I we were very lucky we got to talk to all our parks on the find and find out how they see entire thing is make an effort because it s a massive do if you re a musician how does it feel to be one of only 10 artists on this list I mean it feels pretty crazy I mean considering the pilot you ve been in in July and I mean they re still crazy and I ve even like paying attention they re like evidence I knew that this crazy be you know among. Them only that I wanted on this digital or did you sort of expect this level of success when you started doing a thing but you know. She was like what I thought was really like late last year I got to put it out because you know there s so much music coming out all the time it s very difficult to like him through the noise out there. And it s but he wanted to focus on the early thing called Bill and then started popping off and like everything that seemed to be happening like you know Glastonbury and throwing little O Connor and Jordan Morocco it s all been you thought like that really you know before everything did start kicking off and going really well and you re still at school what you say thinking I want to be a musician or did you have something else that you were you were aiming for I mean I was going to do you study English teacher you know d and then. I know like a lawyer or just a little something and music was always something I did. But it just seems like this ball of unachievable goals are kind of kept under wraps but I wanted to you know as a career. Are the same story I wanted to be a musician. Why do you think you ve been cited successful I want my standout you think to all the other people that have been on that list. Honestly I don t really know I guess I mean I like to think it s because you know I make music that is vulnerable and true to myself and has its confessional and it s emotional and I feel like people are connected on a level I guess they kind of resonate with my honesty I d like to think but at the same time there are so many artists out there 3 picked I even. Grateful to play it it made you think about it I love it. Why are you proud of what you ve done so far. I feel like one of Glastonbury because of my 1st festival died other than I was like of a spectator was like a participant and like playing the b.b.c. Introducing stage and being on the p.c.t. Live saying also the killers was pretty wild because it s such culturally such an iconic place and to be going that it was like most other experiences like the 1st 2 in general I thought that was my my my highlight definitely since I know you re doing so I Well thank you whenever you speak to me for the. Cyclists on the highlight some of the things that are going really really well you know I have been a journey to get where you are now is that any difficult time for you just feel like you know I m going to give up but this well doesn t really I mean I feel like for a long time I was kind of making music in my bedroom and I was getting like I told up the 1st song song I ever uploaded on to sounds loud. I had life 42 days and I remember being so excited by that and even before that when I was just making music and guys by myself nobody was was carrying it on a kind of so difficult that you know a lot of hard work and making songs making governors and there was really paying attention to like it was kind of working under the radar for all the time was definitely pretty tough and there were times when you didn t feel like giving up because you know I ve loved music and I feel like it was another bring it all in to develop in the about. Working under the radar and say what would be you advice to any artist in position now I feel like just keep putting in the hard work and keep making honest work is love I feel like you know your time will come and in a way when you will making music with trying to make music can feel like you re just kind of hitting a wall over and over again and you never know when that was going to keep going to get inside just keep keep going and kind of let other people get to you kind of negative negative energy and as cheesy as it sounds just keep keep working hard and good things will come in time for great projects the best of all I. Have a list of all the other names of the sound or 20. Or 25 words of a drum power I mean I feel I. Was really rocked my way you ve been she s I had a chance like a couple of times and she s lovely as a human being and her voice is. The easy life because easy life we saw some good sangria. In the end they re just lovely boys they deserve everything and joy cooks is well made and it feels nice to be kind of surrounded by people with up I know Jenny lovely and hardworking and. Deserve to be the. Thank you yeah thank. You. My my topic so I looked at the whole list and I ve looked into or than you think it s like the people who are on it I think and they honestly that everyone deserves to be that. Great to be among them I guess that makes me so happy that people as. Your dreams come it. Today s been a massive day and I ve been to many really needs this morning you need a yes the time. It was quite a while without the aid to kind of wonder and then I could I would have what he needs I would like to. Be like in their own words with how they are that I ve owned and you can leave I ll go through it with it was written to say. Yeah well my best friend came back from uni so we did spend a day hanging out playing regular doctor the one thing in any way that day my favorite is when I went on the b.b.c. Website when they have to sort of explain what they ought to sound like without someone ever hearing before but always somehow doesn t manage to really nail it have you seen what they wrote for you. I think I think I did see you I was so full poet I m picking anxieties of a generation I mean not spying I mean I couldn t put. It up and. I loved that right we re going to play a track card if you want to give me the introduction. Yeah odd I thought my job because. They. Could see the. Minute. Well you know. She s been there is a. Young . It s. How cool was it to catch up with. I cannot. Believe you just say to me I doubt he will be more successful than you. Young people most successful the. Most successful and just one of the worst things about getting older and dogs are more successful than you. We re going to get to your suggestions were do you hear what I hear off this b.b.c. 3 counties radio spots and bugs travel and one heading southbound is even one closing traffic due to an accident along the involved is from Junction at 11 at Dunstable and Luton north to junction 11 at Dunstable south and one heading southbound traffic has been temporarily held to a van via from Junction 5 a walk for Downs was junction one at Staples corner and $25.00 looking a little bit heavier than normal between junctions 17 it might cross and junction 20 at King s Langley and shouts way in Milton Keynes in an instant between sex and gagged and 2nd I ve got to find the on the train one problem on the Metropolitan line might have been a. Great Portland Street past the latest on Christmas and the b.b.c. 3 counties. 3 Counties radio. Joining us in the studio is a. Report s general dogsbody Jordan s got a one instruction Yeah no more talks of most success now in. Jordan works b.b.c. 3 kinds radio and had to you hear why what he has and that we ve asked him to come and take part yeah I m ready you know what the rules of the game are not in the slightest right it s very I m going to play the sound effect you ve just got to tell me what it is I can either weld Famous going to. Have he pain reporting I was wasting your time for this. You re. Ok Jordan what was that initially. I thought it was a dog swimming but then the guttural noises were a bit off paced so it was a dog swimming that then talk about the fall yeah yeah yeah I ll try to you know I did more Guy Yeah the fall for me off to be honest but maybe I mean. Those people thought on the ball they tape it doesn t sound like that. So I can kind of you know we ve established is a fart I can tell you that it s not a dog swimming I hope it s not a duck swimming but the thought was a fall oh yeah I just need more than that I need more I need to know the animal I need to know what he s doing I need I need everything in that yes I ll get all these rules at the beginning we ve identified as a fact and these are the sound it s not just part of the sound the whole sound. If you think you know what it is if you hear what I hear 133 Start your message with Can I just put some of the suggestions we ve had come in we lost it this is a hippo as another different no not Ok that structure on the hip a fart would be much louder yet. Stephen in Wellington says Are you sure your mystery noise is an animal it sounds like my ex trying break for us Wow Is that why she said can you leave this anonymous source even. Now it s not your ex I did I didn t take a microphone and find your ex and get a breakfast but but I did go on the b.b.c. Sound archives so they see something that was signed in the b.b.c. Sound Archive it s been there the decades it s probably never been used until now. I know because I didn t give a clear last week and someone still got it how many legs does it yeah that s a good question listen if someone gets to see an off site they ve got the correct animal and I know we re just getting animals less guy through the alphabet. Here with. Me. And I did produce a cross obviously going to say you won t want to ask how many legs you had why should it would have for I mean if you had it would be a spider and showed it despite it doesn t necessary so I was to yes I was actually like a flamingo or something. You think this is a feeling that you think a woman got the night that our flag turned. Yellow They simply need. To be established that is not Ok. Yes no pick. And I m passionate apocalypse is a cause of hooves if you think you know what it is I want from all 3 solo many with 3 c. . Stop shouting at the moans and if you could it could all sight you get right down the ringing gas oh it s our house. And. See if you can guess the noise the mystery noise and do you hear what I hear. Yes. That s friendly fire is like like some pizza 3 counties. That like one like friends and opens. Nice guys were to call it high to stand in this year as well high breaking news well major news radio apparently the small fine generation has lost the ability to tell the time yeah we saw this today and then you break it to me that you don t know how to tell time. Apparently 18 percent of 2535 year old 4 year old Kong tell the time on an analog clock. It s not like I What were you driving at school I just I don t understand that what happened in school is they try to teach us the analog clock I have to tell you should I says and I can do either so I know you can t swim and I stopped about cry and I stuck to your clocks and no one else in my Sco could tell you we did digital clock but I could not read it to digital because number 24 for what I got it s not 2044 it s core to 9 and I could do it just about when I was pretty small and that was always my party trick. Exactly so you didn t learn how to swim he didn t have site I says he didn t know how to read the time Will. Just die and stuff I just saw him and Whited to grow up. To. Yes and it s still not happened yet don t happen so we thought we d put this to the test because you generally don t believe I can do this no I just say it s time it s not my little sister can tell the time I can find well you re going to be surprised hey i k I so I m going to do is I m going to give you some scenarios as in some tongues Yeah I m going to tell you whether they can do this yeah I m going to tell you other little hand and you ve got 10 seconds right to figure out the sounds like it s going to be a nightmare for me I ve got faith in my abilities I thought to fight for my pennies Ok. Even if you ask me my 1st question the big hand. They try to think or try and say really quick so you have any 10 seconds the big hands on the 3 The little hand is in between the one of the take that. Big hand is about that is pretty well. It s not big oh no that s 1 o clock. One. That s unacceptable how long it took you to really want to let s make it right again time let s bring in producer Chris Oh no I knew I wasn t expecting that so you need to talk i can we talk I can find. The next one is if Chris can bait me to Ok just balls and Chris. Shot me names Yeah I practice a minute Chris good so I could. Chris. Ok Yeah well good get out in. The big hand. And the little hand is in between the 9 and 10. 20 to 10. Going on 20 to 10. Ok On this time I want Chrissy to buzz in saying Chris yes i give me the answer right and then I want to white until Danis got it Ok and then just hear me I may just see how long it s time to accept this so this is quite poor should be like being a radio presenter you know time and yeah I didn t want to me you know but look at the clock in front of it s analog it s written down in words it s broken down into simple English says 13 minutes to 9 because I knew we had you as a presenter I cannot myself Ok I ll give you. The big hand. Is on the 10 and the little hand is on full but he s. Got a pretty. That s a bad if I don t act out here what s the answer I don t know. You must know I m also the kind of the Son Yeah lemme hunt is near the full need for I ve literally just said it 10 to 4. Thank you guys. Well can we do you truly one that can teach me how you allowed on the right can people Ga never let you guy she s one of the artists on the b.b.c. Music sound of 2020 long lace. Every Friday and Saturday night from 9 on b.b.c. 3 counties radio Justin deal a ban on our interest trying to drop a modified chart you claim knowledge there and it just don t like I m not a shite God never seen before I showed it to my wife and then finished she went back to you 5 just in daily if you from my life you make some paper saying it s a smudge but until somebody says categorically that s not a u.f.o. You still think that s a u.f.o. Or as you call it you 5 yeah sure you 5 but Geoffrey normal aren t the classics they re rarely had and you never know what s coming next and back instead and beyond just Indeed every Friday and Saturday night from 9 on b.b.c. 3 counties radio I only just in daily was trying to pass on the story you fly. Away from I that s very very impressive racing to you for I. Haven t seen you for I haven t seen any. Mishaps in highlights not you listening to Katrina on a Thursday evening having a good time. Quickly approaching Christmas this Saturday it s me or my family having a Christmas Day Really. I know it s a bit early but we re not going to be able to gather at Christmas and my dad so I ought to be did a day last year we also went to the pub and now it s like this is the Christmas tradition the phrase Christmas the pub trip one year now nice This is what we do now our Christmas tradition my mom s deep fry tacky Yeah so we get the tack we cook the turkey crisp safe we slice it all up what into bags in the freezer but then we leave some of our possible will be in Turkey for the rest of the year but if we leave some of our and we have deep fry it s tacky on Christmas Day do. Fried turkey and chips and she go friend had dinner at your house she did and she said the deep fried turkey cut the roof of her mouth. Which all I thought was I m grateful that like a bad k.f.c. Not a good kind of saying tacky it s tacky it s lovely it s very orderly and it s very dry what you have with it what I have with it yes Hannah and get shot my gravy My because you have chips yeah I buy my own I don t Christmas your disgrace with you but I don t understand how you can have dry gravy granules in sandwiches and yet you re having chips without normal gravy war war what s the problem it s a dime understand it s deep frying turkey it s a delicacy in my house the fact Frausto filled with the oil from last year under my stand up I will warm up more for Kentucky today I don t buy the sure I have an image of you just chucking a massive Turkey into a deep maybe I will I have a question for you Danny the gravy granules you have in your car bed yeah I need them dry you never actually made them into gravy I do sometimes make them into gravy in my mouth 8. Anyway it doesn t matter what my weight eating habits are we re talking about Christmas traditions I saw a brilliant tradition online this week go on partly John Travolta by supplying monopoly at Christmas is a standard Christmas game on what I thought was going to be wearing a toupee which I and then along with Scrabble you know when Scrabble I m sick I m sorry about. A lot to replace the Monopoly money with real money you know. Why I mean it s a bit more risky wouldn t want to sell me his money isn t it but I know they didn t fire me join it is like come in and watch your money it s like John you re the richest of all the money we re not hot on has John Travolta invented a version of Monopoly where he. Why it is the back up. But it s not the same thing I suppose I say he said Apparently it costs about $5000.00 to do the whole thing. So he s the bank cat because that was always going to be on property as well. That called the Rand when but when you re giving out the money yes he s taking out like a small line to head. I just what I thought well that s what happens when you Pasco you just need to have a lot more than he s trying it with his family who he loves and he just they will point in money to play with always really tight up him seriously when you have none and none of us are going to be honest monopoly s a dull game and it takes too long it does take a long time but it s fun it s what s not fun about it oh of hearts have not won and you can t land there anymore yeah but then it s like oh I landed on Park Lane and you have my 5 as well and you had a hotel on it and you didn t itis so now I don t have to pay you it s a game that requires too much discussion what I m seeing I like what I want to capture my favorite game by Christmas is ultimately I ll. Probably want to find what you get given a box of cards guide you can go will come out at Christmas one of a guy before I tell you if everyone in a lot of background you get give it a deck of cards so you ll get given a role within the village one of you is a werewolf the aim is to figure out who is the way I will when the time limits of God So Auggie amongst yourselves and point the finger and try to juice which one of us the werewolf because we ve all had to do different roles it s quite common pay it it s a lot of fun people will fall out you fascinate me but I don t want I don t like your games Oh well you want expansion played Dungeons and Dragons until recently when I watched The Big Bang Theory I think done a ship in the guise of tell you Well next week we ll play some werewolf together knowing what I want to see how we day and we see how we think and you will be. Sorry because you ll have a really good time doesn t matter Katrina what to practice myself on might not. Have to say so. This is me. Oh. I ve. Blundell. Scholem knew. I would say. I have said this before that this is the best modern day Christmas song of say besides Mariah but this is a real up and comer. Really talks and life. The Leona Lewis Christmas album. Jessie j. Christmas album release she sounds great singing not a Christmas album top trump. Well you talk about want to ruin. The darkness tiny tiny hide lay all we must talk about you know I would like to I m sure there s a story that s all things that we re talking about lights as well our show that. Professional in a secondary probably game of crimes under the hammer. To answer. No. Good. Answer. Since you. Think. You. Need to play the b.b.c. 3 counties radio I never heard of.

Tomorrow night and talking of ice not just the weather. Gosh it was cold Lang guess that I was meant to die and I had to scrape quite a bit of ice off the car and I was leaving the studios at around our past one early this morning and we re going to get more again tonight because it s going to get down to about minus one and might be some freezing fog around as well because it s going to be a clear night and largely dry bit of patchy clouds building up from the northwest now for 1st day dry with only partly cloudy skies and sunny spells in the morning through the afternoon strengthening southwest winds pushing in a cloud and we mark the odd shower around and it starts to get mild at 69 Celsius the high 43 to 40 I found I had now the outlook windy with showers at 1st on Friday but those showers clearing to the east through the afternoon when they re 1st on Friday night. Winds will ease by dawn on Saturday and conditions we mostly dry fine and dry for most of Saturday ask good news. Windy weather moving in on Saturday night and brought in breezy on Sunday with showers later that s how is looking at it the next few days also 26 minutes past 10 year with a light showers and music on the way from Ronan Keating the some Travis to Maisie peters out of the new record before 11 o clock and this one from Kenny Loggins. It s p.b.c. Yes he s the last person you d expect to be across Europe which is simply amazing and you can listen to all of our Listening Project conversations with and again with John in the evening or on b.b.c. Sounds now looking at Thursday morning Mark Cummings a breakfast bringing in the best bits from our Cheltenham collection debate and speaking to a gas fetta who swapping 4 wheels for 2 to. Trophy great result for Bristol Rovers it ended to per store over one liter Nori and one breast so one for 2 on penalties a full time then the 2nd round and. We re playing for United tonight. Oxford now and Exeter went through 3 nil on penalties as well so those are some of the football results for when their lives are matches in the Premier League and are on through some of those for you later on the big one was the local Darby in the Premier League and it ended Liverpool 5 Everton to 5 evident that was the big tonight now. Random courses on the way very soon and you reminded me to do this last night I m going to try and do this every night if you ve managed to guess one of the answers the night before I m going to give you the ones that went now so you ve got an idea of what you re trying with Ok and as well as if it was frustrating you and you miss the answers don t worry I tell you what they are now so Question number one was from Kristen Stonehouse it was only on day one and it was a sound effect they d sent in and there was this. Now I wasn t surprised that that went early and it was a nice story behind this now it you might be familiar with the sound and I know several of you were it is a piece of equipment in a hotel in a hospital and it s it s used well it s kind of an alarm when you call in the nurse and Chris had recorded it at the oncology unit in Cheltenham as he was having chemotherapy but the marvelous thing about this was that he sent me some photographs saying Chris it was my last ever team a therapy session and lots of you then sent good wishes to Chris in Stonehouse So if you listen I Chris all those wishes came later on last night but that was the sound effect we were trying to get we had all kinds of gases like a snooze button alarm clock and various other things now we re very close with one of the other ounces and I ll give you the questions again in about 5 minutes time so you ll know which one that is but the other one that went last night was this woman had been running for 4 days and it was set by John in North Petherton what were prisoners not allowed to do and now contrast now we had all things like keeping pets talking to each other receiving cakes. I ve received a gentle tonight from Ruben is working with me very nice thank you Ruben. Just before as bad talk. We had. We had saying in Alcatraz run for breakfast. Wear a tie and most of the said escape but the answer was. You were not found to take cold showers. And the answer came from Mrs. So you go to the. Fact to the question yet. Collection I have ever seeing and we ve got a tight Jag got made and then most of the royal family just incredible sport now by director of rugby Stuart said he couldn t fault the effort of his players following their 2512 defeat to Saracens in the Premiership last night 20 points from the boot of Owen Farrell coupled with a sure make Lind 1st half Try gave Saracens the victory accepted his side didn t do enough to get the result throughout the game there was probably occasions where we were tactically just straight a little bit away from what we talked about doing and and that cost us the effort from the players which we expect was outstanding throughout and some of the collisions they want to get some of their big players was again was a credit to our boys but we need to do more. In this afternoon s football Bristol City are at home to Huddersfield Town in the championship in the National League Yeovil are looking for their 1st victory in 6 league and cup games Darren sols team are away to league leaders Bromley Bristol Rovers play tomorrow in the f.a. See is the day busy busy day more messages coming through with your requests for postcards that is absolutely perfect we should say for those who haven t had them before don t expect a proper card which you can sort of you know folded one that opens up with an icing it s just all we do this is a cost saving measure and as I ve mentioned it s not a b.b.c. Funded thing this is just jack and Lee doing it ourselves all is just a print out of a photo you know what the shiny side where the photo is and we just write on the back of it and we send it seems to work seems to work I have found a message from someone who says there s didn t arrive last year well we did send out the list I definitely did send it so I you know we will certainly send them I can t promise you know what how the Royal Mail will get it to you but we ll certainly send them Ok I just wanted to put the disclaimer here that we can t be held responsible for how the Royal Mail gets to you or not but we definitely send them and they generally I d say 99 percent get there because I m not any other messages like that I think one might have arrived slightly torn once bit with shame but which is if we want to make them into Christmas card out a look at the prices for that once and it was absolutely astronomical for you know we re sending out best part $100.00 cards or something like 6 pounds per card or something. As opposed to 25 p. So that was why we couldn t do that so. So yeah it s all a bit of fun is you know we don t do it for any other reason than we like doing it we think it s fun for a lot of people for some it might be the only Christmas card they get. And so several reasons really and we love doing it so if you want Jack nearly former b.b.c. Paul Anderson and Secretary of Manish it isn t on to Britain where we are in there in the shed which you transformed in the 18 months we ve been here you put in walls a staircase all sorts going on that s how long we ve been involved drop outs from the very start where you come. To the initial meeting when we turned up for that and then we re being. Redeveloped in this or you know but sorry. If you come away from what you don t need to be here for every Tuesday and Thursday when it s all why do you cause us along always every every day you know getting paid to be here so why do you do it just for the companionship or Richard. Couple years ago for a name the Canes and I used to go to the shady Mint killings and as soon as I came down there after moving. Or looked up the shade and this was the only one year because a gradual one wasn t so long I mean what is it about being here that you love and want to know kids well why mention so important to you Well the national motto is shoulder to shoulder because men never talk face to face. But we will talk shoulder to shoulder and when you re working on the bench you know you can have a good law for some right and that s will be so we re about. All the noises you can make as men but you can t talk to anybody else about it because there is a thing isn t there and it s quite widely thought that men don t actually open up. Even to that wives or partners or any you know that even some respects that but as you say working on whatever you know would work you re doing when you re next to someone actually that can be the moment to do it. Well many of us of a generation big boys don t grow on it so you hold it in and this is a place and time that people were understand that and you can talk about. Poor But the reason you keep coming back what would you done if it wasn t for this. Just home and work to my house apart from now on cheeses and photos of you I work nights on the lorry driver and so I come down here for the commodity sugar you spin it forces and we ve got some x. Forces here as well so you. Can never take a forces out of a man and so yeah come down here for a laugh really why it s so important is that this. They I did actually because a lot of you guys are slightly older friends and yet you know this story and he s looking at us as well of course but I mean generally speaking that is the case isn t it I don t know everyone generally speaking I don t see clubs for men of that age range there are that many there are I think quite a few for women maybe there aren t so many for men is that fair would you say say that s very. Good well here we got a mention in Taunton is really great heavily give me a quick tour around that s very noisy unless we re stuck outside you probably still hear some of the work going on we talk in particular about some benches that you ve been working on trying to come chief 1st tell me when did you 1st find out about these well the young offenders. Closed down and moved to Bridgewater and we were told that we can clear all the world in that so we went over there and this Korean woman we found these Melbourne chains. We can turn them into some and then we found the park and you see the plant present boy to people we ve listened. To the forward and in 1900 more in knowing Tim 23. My immediate full worlds were always shoulder to shoulder its shoulders that shall grow over 100 years you know and we really quite so ate Unfortunately it took us a long trying to save up for the wood and the pine straw floor and they sat there for about 6 months to be contacted and moral ground and my great his priorities we finished them and they live or dead. Phone remember the day before Remembrance something or what you said your ex force is so so come on to what Benj themselves what did it mean for you to be involved in the project that was honoring those in the forces 100 years ago obviously very humbled because obviously they died in 1918 war and I have seen you know I did my bit in peace for quitting country to give something back to the hunted for so long since 923 and basically you really patch arranging. A proc that was given by the men of 1900 so given it back to them meant a lot of being forces myself so you know when you get so what do you think happens to these benches and maybe just the wood in them start to rot away after being around for a long time perhaps not being looked after particular Well how do you think they ended up as an important thing in them or like that you think ended up just just by the end of the rotten they just would get well apparently the workshop over there was meant to be read Newnam and reprint place in the world and. It was shut down and moved so rich will so they felt they couldn t carry on doing it and we just picked. Ok now you guys are the masters of recreating your transformer you re bringing new life to stuff so you had well just the bench ends and the part that was it yeah Ok we had one drop that we knew that there really are useful and that led. To add folk are quite small you know but there are 8 foot benches and they took out a lot of the workshop I mean it s a good space but it s not music no no said how many benches were there so it s up to in there actually would take a bit of space people working on it is why we have to set a period of time to put it all together you know we cut all the thing we ve got the lights sanding them down. And I m trying and we trying the pain chains and then we say right now what happened to get you know that it was to get back for a break spoke again really guys are quite complicated things you know so you re only here 2 days a week and you anyway set up the doors things out a little bit that s John from the many sheds tones and we had from Paul as well will it catch up with him in a 2nd because they ve been working so hard they came across these rotting broken benches which were in with them and then they realized that they were the memorial benches they d been made to remember the people from with the men who died in the 1st World War So they they thought Right this is something for the men in sheds we re going to we re going to fix this up and get it ready for a Remembrance Day this year absolutely brilliant what they ve done we ll find out how it works it was uneasy more with them after Jackie Wilson here on b.b.c. Somerset. Jackie Wilson I get the sweetest feeling she s going to pass 12 Charlie Taylor with you through you ve got 15 minutes left if you want a postcard to go 15 minutes is your 15 minute warning you got to do is it s a Christmas Eve But if you re not sure what you re signing up for you ll get a photo. Through the post that s all it is is just a little photo like you had put in a photo album or something like that s got a glossy front side where the picture is and all we do is just write on the back like it s a postcard to put it dress on the one side we do a little personalized message on the other side Jackman is a former b.b.c. Somerset presenter he s a very close friend of mine and we ve we started this 4 years ago while don t technically 3 years ago 4 Christmases ago this is our 4th Christmas 2016 let s just go with that and so we we decided what we mentioned on air as a joke or no one would buy our Christmas cards if there was one with our face on it and people started ringing and said we absolutely would not that we re selling them we give we re giving them giving them. And yeah so that s what we do we send out Christmas cards with a picture of us on it we write a little message you ve got a message from both me and Jack in there and if you feel like you don t get many Christmas cards at Christmas or you feel maybe a little bit lonely over the Christmas period I know it can be a really lonely period. For people as well as fantastic for so many people but but because of that if you re on your own it can feel even more lonely counted so if you feel like that and this would cheer you up even if it s only for you know a few seconds when you receive it we d be delighted to send you on all you ve got to do is send us your address your name as well as part of that and your telephone number in case we need to ask for more clarification when we come to send it to there are 2 ways of doing you can text it 81 trouble 3 make sure that 1st word is Somerset and then put your details after that or you can call 080-678-1566 you ve got 15 minutes left don t leave right to the last 2nd because I m going to guess now they ll be a few people who all try to ring at the same time at the end don t get a call now if you can just a quick one someone who sent me a message whose phone number ends in a double 7. Could you pop you name all we ve got is your address would be nice to have your name if possible there were if not if you don t want to it s fine but in case you just forgot haven t you phone number and double 7 you texted me your address you just let me know your name is Will be nice to be able to personalize it for you but thank you to everyone else you ve managed to get in touch so far as I say what I got less than 15 minutes now let s head back to the many shots in Taunton they have done an incredible work they found these rotten old benches which were the memorial benches for the people who died from with lisc and in the 1st World War and there are these people in many shades in Taunton they re not paid they re volunteers they join the club they love meeting twice a week in Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Taunton and so they decided to do up the benches not a chat with John and with Paul from the men in sheds in Taunton about what it was like how difficult it was and it apparently proved to be quite tricky obviously and we had to marry the whole with the bench and so we have we had to marry the whole was up and they were quite tricky because obviously the been there since 1923 and we were trying to use more than tools should I say on old equipment but once we made the 1st one up that was awesome like guinea pig for the 2nd one which went up very quickly so yeah so you know on a practice run it was having a practice run with the 1st one and we see a lot of choice words were made and made and drilling in these holes and finding new holes and once we ve done the 1st one the 2nd one was a breeze to us it was really good they say they re about choice words that s kind of the beauty of this place that was new because you are among friends among other people like that so you can that this is what we re talking you can express yourself fully doesn t matter if you know there s a lot of effen in Jeff in which I guess there probably is. A lesson but that kind of abuse is that you don t you re not under any sort social pressure here which is which is kind of the great thing about it Ok so you made these benches What color is it to go for did you have any idea what the rich. Basically when we 1st did on tables we came across a cooper no green and that s basically our signature color for our shed and we did these bench benches in which is our signature color really fantastic Ok so you have the green and then transported in because you said the right foot long so did you just someone here have a value can get stuff and how does it work that that took quite a bit of organizing. Works on the building try to have a big enough fan but it took 3 of us to get them Ok And it was very friendly slippery so I could. Also isn t it weather wise Ok now they are in positions they said the memorial ground with whether this was a stand there is never. Understand some of the 4 women who are actually in on the ground really Wow Ok so it s really important place for the town of for with this game isn t it what was it like for you to see them in position like you said just before remember it s day I meant Sprite that we got my video but there s immense pressure that we got rid of. You not enough of them by the time they re well fair enough been working on for a long time. And in the background telling us they were big things the. Great thing about it now is that the people with might have no idea that it was you guys didn t they were just one day they were the benches that the next day they wake up and there they are but you know your hearts you did something really good for the exacts a real community thing you ve done there isn t it yeah and so that s kind of what men insurance is all about yeah yeah it s not the only thing we ve done for the community. We make numerous things and we ve supported numerous charities and we help with. Scrape I mean you know what you area a 1000 pound for the food bank or set not you know exhibition. Toronto does well we have a little sort of go up on the wall there. They were for the toads for around the home and also we made sure the story for the yes for the actual fiberglass sort of . The prints for them to say all right some of them some of them are still sitting there and they some of it stayed in position if they d been bought and I said the place is so likely why don t you get is a really get involved with the communities great intent. Sister group or apartment very intends to. Develop the shading and I ll read out a statement from jobs they fortune well being will be a hold of the and I don t the children playoffs for market weekends from January they were also have a meant mental health class in the break for a future and make for paper fun and creative experiences with in the shade so if anyone wants to join the shade just come along on Tuesday and. We certainly putting out when we have a choice to use and new things or it s really great if you re into. It for people who are in the town nearby and I see advice to come get it and it s not like you know if you ve got the benches and everyone gets involved that s fine but also people can still bring their own projects down coming use the machine 6 you ve got a lot of an extensive training programme now so that s why we have 2 trains on the train anybody that needs training on any of the machines Ok upright so you know what Roxas of powerful bits of kit that there. Is really I think it s amazing the source stuff you do and well done on the benches and for people in the movie appreciate that even if they re not you know I didn t know whether it was you guys who did it. Yeah I ll keep going that s the good thing is I suppose about making a bench is that once you finished you ve got a nice place to sit down and relax after it s you know yeah yeah if you look on our Facebook pages you can certainly say makes them relax enough to be in there things seem to be broke up it s very sad your face I think get a cup of. Stuff out on guys and dad on May continue thank you very much great to hear from John Paul from from the many shots in Taunton just incredible what they ve done to to give them back their memorial bench is really important things on the way seem simple things on the bench like that with a plaque saying that it was remembering the men who died from Willis. Skimmin the 1st World War They ve done a fantastic thing so well done all of them to the men in shirts in Taunton the time 60 Minutes to one you listening to Charlie Taylor here on b.b.c. Somerset through until 1 o clock you ve got 6 minutes left if you want to get a Christmas postcard 6 minutes to call us or to text us with your address your name and your number as well and we can put you on our list Don t miss out 6 minutes to go before we close the lines. With the news I want to quote will Richards it s been confirmed that one of the passers by who helped to restrain the London Bridge attack yesterday was a convicted murderer he d been attending the same event on prison a rehabilitation that those men can a convicted terrorist went to before he stopped 2 people to death and injured 3 others com was shot by armed police shortly afterwards Don Dunstan has more video of the attacker being set upon by members of the public online. And Bridge has now gone viral a man reported to be a Polish chef can be seen lunging at a car with a long narwhal whale tusk which he d ripped from the wall of the nearby fishmongers hall where the attacker had been attending a conference about the rehabilitation of offenders it s been confirmed that one of the men who helped wrestle the attacker to the ground was a convicted murderer James Ford who d also been attending the conference Ford had been on day release from prison where he serving a 15 year sentence for killing 21 year old Amanda champion in 2003 Boris Johnson has been to the scene of the attack where he s met the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Dame Cressida Dick the Queen s offered her thoughts prayers and deepest sympathies to those affected by what she calls yesterday s terrible violence the dean of so that cathedral the Very Reverend Andrew Nunn says it s brought back memories of the previous terror attack at London Bridge in 2017 Missoni 2 and a half years since the June attack and that s not to long for healing and actually it feels as though wounds have been reopened where people felt that they had come to terms with what had happened in their community now I think they re wondering whether they really had a lot of work for us to do rail fares are expected to rise by an average of 2.7 percent in January this could mean the cost of an annual season ticket increasing by more than $100.00 pounds a year the news will be disappointing for passengers but the rail industry argues that the money is needed to invest in the network Robert Nisbet is from the rail delivery group which represents train companies no one likes to pay more for their tickets we understand that but you ve got to understand also where the money goes and by holding this just under inflation this is the 3rd year in a row that we ve managed to.

When you move house one of the possible impacts while it s very stressful time is nice but one thing may be a lot of people overlook is the impacts almost children moving to a different locality a different property certainly maybe a different school as well well it may just surveys being carried out into they some how moms and dads could help the experience of their children when they move house and on the line to talk about it is the psychologist Emma Kenny Hello Emma thanks for having me I thought Suppose we all have memories from childhood a lot of people when they moved house it was an adventure but it can be a bit traumatic as well right so obviously every child is different and on the subject of experience one child can find the whole process hugely exciting and the other one can find it frightening and very scary so it s really important that we take seriously the feelings of children and I think that often when it comes down to things like me we make a decision of course we do as parents that s what we have to do for the. Reasons but often we don t think about expressing to the children the fact to why we re moving how to make it easy for the child and kind of to listen to the concerns and anxieties that they have joining that process and what often happens is the shock when a child suddenly realizes that they are being relocated and feeling that they have literally no control over it a lot of people in the survey said it took children several months to get settled in didn t it but I mean what aspects do you think all are most disturbing I suppose get set in that what he s not that we think of getting set in their ways with children as well absolutely So the survey said that 62 percent of parents with kids who are around the age of 4 with the most concerned about make sense because for most of us who ve got charged with not moved around a lot so they ve got a complete permanence around their environments and also a lot of them is started to attend either a nice tree or Prisco to the for a set number of pages they might be associating with and that feeling of being settled especially around developmental milestones such as party training they were a big deals for children and when you move them from an environment you re obviously going to create some disruption so even the most resilient child is going to have an issue with the routine and one of the things that parents said as well is it 25 percent of them are really concerned about the behavior suffering and I m a massive believer in preparing children not one of the reasons that I did this I got involved with the people who made that wimpy kid to do this Illustrated Guide and paper breaks it down if braces that people can engage with this if you re moving it s not because I think that children are going to fall apart by any extreme I don t think that but I do know that when you prepare a child and I did it myself with my 2 boys 2 years ago when removed it fundamentally shifts it from anxiety to more of an excitement and you want to do that with kids because they are human beings with a whole set of understanding about who they are and where they live and when it s ripped away from them without any sense of control understandably that s going to something cause concern just. So you got to portray it more as an adventure and start writing some positives and saying this will happen this will happen not just let it let it all occur and the children then have to find out for themselves I think you re absolutely right one of the things that I absolutely believe in are certainly to do with my intuitive fact if I m really honest with you the house I m living in now the house we eventually bought I would not have bought without them it wasn t really the house that I would have chosen but from the very young so I informed them that we were going to be why we begin to move what benefits there would be I helped them see the local area that we ve been moving to we went and visited it I got them prepared with the whole experience of what it involved I allowed them to come to the final viewings of the properties that we shortlisted and then when we chose the house like I said it wasn t a house I would have gone for but they really wanted that house so we transformed an experience that initially they felt very very intimidated by and then eventually they couldn t wait and still today my boys will say to me I m so that you may have to this is the best house if you ve ever lived in and I don t think it s because it is because it really isn t but actually for them it was that design and they fell involved and I think with younger children making sure that you have references I use tricks like for example a month before you leave pop Miller a lobby and cloak incense and that means that when they move to the new house you can pop in and it gives this familiar association or take something from the garden get into Digable plan and then be planted in the new place if you are really really you know a parent who is willing to push out a little bit a new family pet can also be something that can help that helps to settle the child whilst they settle the pet into the new environment so it s kind of this parallel experience all of those things make a huge difference when choosing the location of a new house they would you look at the locality i.e. The age group of your neighbors whether there are actually families with young children I mean I think you d be fabulous if people could profile their local environment definitely if you re going to move somewhere simple things like walk to visit if they re available in. In the area for children of that age what the school is like can you create some kind of connection with the school so that the child gets to visit before they start as you know what is the neighborhood like have you scoped out all of those things help to settle your stress level as well as encouraging them to feel that you are doing the work and ground what s made easier and I just think sometimes we want to absolutely do the best or should we really do in the u.k. And that happiness is paramount but sometimes because we are afraid of knowing that as sad or sad instead of confronting it we just hope it will be alright and it s far better to confront it head on and to make sure that they are Ok And you ve got the power to do that as a parent so as you said that do you do some prepping about the area do you take them on trips that do do some exciting activities that and doing geisha mistiness possibly lots of activities in the area really then doing this wrong means not only is the child stressed but you are as well so you can help the child in that transition then you re helping yourself it s one less thing to worry about it let s let s well let s say you say these a terrible time isn t it when you move a 1000 or so what s going on there is actually that s one of the most stressful times you know we have it that at the top of the list of a one of the most stressful experience is a human being is really really hard work so knowing that your children are fully onboard that reduces our stress and also even young children can take responsibility of certain things whether it s helping to pack their toys or when the slightly older I get them to be rewarded for whatever that doing help them to feel a sense of engagement because anybody who has a sense of ownership over what they re doing a feeling of control of what they re doing feels reassured you draw the feeling control of things go wrong then to feel out of control because the fact is you re the one causing the issue and crashing and you can learn from it the biggest problem in life is where we feel that things are going wrong and we don t have any control and a responsibility over it so anything that lessens that is a really powerful exercise and some great advice there. And I think it s going to be a sudden surge of families maybe a house in the Norfolk area now. Would you want to be from there it is lovely well just such a varied place so we could make it to the other we would call that out of county of cold out. Thanks very much thanks for having me. In Maine $140.00 France and the low countries fell to the Nazi onslaught Hitler s attention then turned to invasion of the last man standing thanks to the heroism of the r.f. Fighter pilots the last war for was repulsed and without air cover German troops never set foot on British shores but is that reading of history strictly correct in fact did an invasion of sorts take place on the beaches and inlets of Norfolk and Suffolk it s a theory taken up by the knowledge based historian and author Martin w. Bowman in his new book Hitler s invasion of East Anglia 940 and historical coverup and Martin Bowman is whether sallow Martin good Nabhan. Man Haren mind down and Charlie they didn t invade today as we what we see say in Athens and later but maybe there were incursions is that we ll suggest I m suggesting incursions Yeah yeah what and did they happen yeah I think so. And if you look at the back of the book 1st if a reader picks the book up and looks at the back you ll find all the appendix section and in the appendix section there are numerous. Accounts of raids that did take place in will 2 everything from D.-Day to create the most famous one of course was Operation biting which is when the British paratroopers were dropped on the coast of France Bruner that hour and they say they stole the radar completely lock stock and barrel and shipped it back to England and cost all our scientists studied So those were legal commando raids and what you re suggesting in the book is that Germany did the same thing in this country Yeah because I don t believe there was an invasion I don t think there was in a serious invasion who knows. We re never going to know are we. Unless somebody pops a great big thick file through my letter box one day with all the answers in I don t think we re going to find out what makes you suspicious then that something s being covered up there is the gaps in the documentary evidence then that you found there s certainly gaps because a friend of mine had a file which occur in memory where it came from now but emanated from one of the government agencies and this is in the days before things were redacted and I think actually there was a heck of a lot missing and he was for he was very sort of chirpy about this he said while cause I ve got the follow here on and it tells you all I said it doesn t tell you everything it s what it doesn t tell you is what I am interested in and this is this is the aspect of history I enjoy I love the investigation side of it but we ve got nothing to investigate we ve got nothing to go on. Simply because there s nothing in that file is of any interest going back then to these wartime years and particularly 940 if there were raids German raids on Norfolk and Suffolk in the East Coast. I suppose that officialdom had every everything to gain by covering it up didn t they they didn t want to panic. Certainly during the war they would cover everything like that up and I can only think now. Because we re we re in a different era now aren t we you know I drive a German car I go March a German football team play every Saturday and Sunday and Monday managed by hair Farka brilliant plyers brilliant German flyer with a lot of water under the bridge is absolutely but looking at it from any storable perspective which is how you got to do this because I went around in where water anyway none of us were even the veterans are getting few and far between so I sort of posed the question. Was this a prune of Altaie prayed that seemed the most logical to me because of the time scale. Is supposed to of the invasion of England were supposed to take place round about September 940 I think this was Operation Sea Lion as well as Pierre that never took place but that was shaped your for September that s quite right but that seems very strange to me because we just won the Battle of Britain. And there was no earthly reason why anyone would now want to invade England on the back of that when we ve still got aerial superiority we ve got the Navy and the Royal Navy up in scamper flow the console down to the channel and the east coast within. A day or 2. There was no earthly reason why they needed to invade and actually all the German generals in the admirals and the last waffer commanders none of them were in favor of actually an invasion in fact during He never turned up any of the conferences his attitude was we were never going to invade if we did we are going to win model for African take care of the of the area f. And we ll invite that way and Carl student who was the leading exponent of paratroop drops in operations in will War 2 He actually had a meeting with Hitler and he told hit a point blank he said this ain t going to work well you look at Norfolk beaches like Holcomb would have been an ideal place to land an army you could land an army Holcombe couldn t you. Troll intents and purposes yes but you ve got to see what s involved and it s incredible what s involved in the battle of Crete for instance which student was. Involved with was a complete disaster for the Germans. Because they want to move we did everything we knew they were coming because of. The Enigma codes have been broken we knew exactly what time they were going to drop we knew exactly what their strengths were and we had a general in charge call Freud who was in New Zealand he got the v.c. In World War one but he was used to static defense he wasn t into mobile warfare like you had with the blitzkrieg. So he lost we actually snatched defeat from the jaws of victory so what can we say then and let s remind everyone if you just tuned in the Norfolk author Martin Bowman is with us talking about his new book Hitler s invasion of East Anglia $940.00 and historical cover up so have you been able to unearth any evidence of German power troops or commandos landing on our shores in a word now. But there are a lot of people who said they d seen bodies washed up on the coast shingle street and around the area Felixstowe area bald sea round there and there were reports of ships with Germans on board but. No one has actually come up with anything definitive I think on one occasion the church bells were rung which signaled the invasion but probably somebody got the wrong end of the stick and jumped the gun mis read the signals I don t know. Who knows. It s very hard to pin down there was a lot of paranoia going on at that time was an air mail that was a weapon that Hitler would have enjoyed using to it s to make us all nervous that I often wonder actually if if there was. Some sort of right carried out on the coast which actually was to draw. The sting out of the Luftwaffe attacks on London. Rather than the other way around. Far from you know London being the focal point for the Starman invasion how about we switch that around and say well was the was there a landing of some sort on the coast to draw the far and turn attention away from from London what would the targets in Norfolk have been I suppose we were getting a lot of military airfield at that time while my we had a heck of a lot of air fills they air. Of course this is before the Americans came into the war but later on they had several bases all around the area they had lots of places here in Norfolk. We had lots of pre-war bases bill in the staying there Norfolk and Suffolk. You would have if they were invading the 1st thing you would do is you would have paratroopers coming in German paratroopers and they would be coming in in jail you $52.00 telling gliders some with gliders somewhere though they would then attack and take the key points and the key points would be radar stations fortifications coastal defensive areas and airfields. Because the idea is you seize the airfield and then you can bring all the troops in whenever you feel like it and I ve actually touched on the or Syrian it s my dad was in the experience he was actually in a cell of about 5 I think they had 5 guys in each cell and he was one of the ones who would go down on Iraqi their field and if the Germans ever invited they would go underground and then I would come up at night probably behind lines. Well I would be by then because the Germans would have taken control of the airfield what they would they were sort of left behind if you like to cause as much trouble and grief and sabotage as they could muster and they were basically a band of cutthroats probably really hard to take it was a suicide mission though in the end was not it was that talk about vinyl and they were. Strangely enough I was here in the forum here one afternoon when to go to the match I had an article I went up stairs to the local history section and I pulled the book off the rack there was all about the scenario units and there was a 2 page story in a barn on a father I don t even know he d written. It was your chip off the old block when I m writing things down well yeah and I thought you know I can use this but I can t really use it in a factual setting so why I ve done chapter now is actually a war if chapter I call it the the gunfight at the Ok corral if you like because it was the is the culmination of the book but of course we when we defeat the invaders. They all Syrian it s Iran to the teeth and they had garroting why they would corrupt people and then go back into the underground bits they would shoot them they that they got these daggers which is developed by the commandos would they have used gas it seems that Churchill would have sanctioned that if the Germans had landed Well I wouldn t blame him because. Somebody asked me the other day they said. How serious was a war but if they hadn t invaded how serious would have been for England Well there was a chap called Richard Walther dar. Who was one of the leading Nazis he would be in charge of what happened to England once they d invaded. And he says as soon as we be in then we shall make an end to you Englishman once and for all able bodied men and women will be exported slaves to the continent the old in the wake will be exterminated all men remaining in Britain the slaves will be sterilized they was all there in black and white what they were going to do with ever got here even down to Nelson s column into Falcon square if they d ever arrived got to London and take over London Hitler would have had. The statue of Lord Nelson interval to square taken back to Berlin and erected in his capital so this was a mix existential fights as with most of us would know that but this really does hammer it home Aleck crystallizes it you know in a nutshell they were to turn on and this is what they were going to day they do it down everywhere else. Well it s a thought provoking book and there is a question mark in the title Hitler s invasion of East Anglia 940 and historical coverup written by Martin w. Bowman and it s published by Penguin sword 25 pounds Martin thank you very much for coming in a pleasure. B.b.c. Radio Norfolk travel. And then for a couple of years they haven t had a normal dome stage where the Pyramid stage now is and he played on that in the Sunday night I think it was the year 2000 the reason I know that is because in this book Ok I have to go but yes there we go Glastonbury 50 years always the 50th anniversary of the festival next year June 2020 so a new book is beat out couple weeks now Michael Eavis and Emily Eavis of wrote the book and it is brilliant I ve got it here now. And it goes through the decades so you ve got the seventy s the eighty s the ninety s the northeast and the start of each chapter there s a poster for every single festival so all 50 had a poster to go right there way back to 970 when it started and you ve got the pop folk and blues where the farm Ok appeal to Pop Festival as it was known a pound tickets were created Ok if you want a ticket send your pounds to Mr m. Events where the farm if you think I was there work now every day and it was Saturday the 19th of September and that was the kinks but it wasn t a Kinks Was it because the Kinks had a big hit with maybe a sunny afternoon and they pulled out so we got T.-Rex in for the 1st year that s how it happened basic great broken his photos of some wonderful pictures I ve never seen before and it goes what we have to present day pretty much up to the Shias Festival and it s a wonderful book so I bought that went along to the farm to have a chat with Michael about it got him to sign it of course hello to Michael how you doing very good thank you. But before we start morning because last night after 4 hours at a planning meeting. Of British shops here is not using fun you got to shop for the cop shop in the plane go down the bomb in the village or there will be a brand. A coffee shop the center of the village you re going to drive the ship of good Ramsay if you just walked under the shop Well I would have to go and they ve been talking about that for ages everybody working that was 3 years to see my project where they d be selling gas to be festival tickets in the shadow of the round. Before we got going look wise but with me oh my God I went out and bought that in water I went Waterstones like tonight don t be shy and I want you to put to Randy your like a son to me. You can whatever you like or look at that Ok I want to let our Joy welcome I love a chap at a fire light. Well I didn t if you have a fire going you ve got. To go you know I can t you know it s about every day in the winter and I look like this was the life of Riley and now it is just over 80 years of homework oh you keep so young freighted you so. Wonderful Life are you doing to badger the festival and all the kids that work for me not to cry to people if I were a people of my own chef you had every damn a life you mad but it would have been crazy you think your life don t you know how you do have to live talk about your book then because that s that s that s very popular number one of the time chart by 2 weeks ago they sold 50000 books so they ve all gone on to get to 3 shops to get that book they were sold out. Every day you know 50 times or Christmas the mundus huge I was reading it last night there s some great photos in it yeah do the photos are brilliant even what you like about it and I like the photos that you don t see in the press normally there s a picture in there of the old pyramid stage burning down never seen that before really never seen a photo before and are pretty sure it was. 7 in the morning at the bedroom window I could not believe it but you know when you re burning down I simply could not believe what I was saying but then it burned because no point in saving it really was you know let it burn out my mate Steve. Was serious stage yeah. Just a little you know but yeah here and so they had that I was in 2 weeks and I want to take you work on that book thanks though it s human family did it together and started the year off actually when the press thing give the press thing something to do in the year off yeah so. But I swore I can t wait a bit longer because there be more to say in the 10 years or so yeah she wanted to do. Yeah great so she go the press team so they get cracking on that they re all of my stuff as well I did a few interviews as well as you. Have a lot more to say really yeah then you can put in really into humble Don t you think I think so 2nd I want to show you something right here on the phone something I m now I found this last night Ok I love the early days photos I love the pictures from before is around to see I think you know very good now bobble hat. I found this last night I don t know whether anyone would you know I mean what would not be looked about. How long are we talking here the old days that was probably I 1st heard him for the picture of me number. One secure picture as a good picture you ve always had the beard than shiny had Yeah yeah. So black and there s days when my number watching I was watching you were in the Judean temple film Glastonbury that came out 20 odd years ago 1015 years ago I looked out footage of when that all the hippies at Stonehenge and they got rid of them unable came down to the farm came down here and I took them all on Jim Yeah and I think the 51 marker has been close to a stone hand yeah I made my day. And it s $30000.00 people there but they didn t pay to come in today they came and they sort of. And I couldn t really key in a way not many zone or anything just a few tractors you know it was and and I mean it worked for me is Ok they re very talented. People or working foreman out of them they released Yeah Rush some how many Rush interview Joe rush talking about his customers don t see he s a clever chap it was. You know each and every stone age 25 years or so. We have fantastic artist Sam and me looking at the pictures here I m loving the old pyramid stage with the Hey you know when you were doing the book was have any memories you d forgotten about and then you remembered you saw a photo for a year and we can talk forever about it 1st or really killer in 50 years of long time yeah and a whole lot of stuff has really happened in the last 50 years and there. Probably is a book though it just 30 times that people are not mention Malay Yeah you can get all in action here I was actually all the people that helped me you know it s truly yours yeah even my own kids are haunted mansion I don t have any point last night well they should be but they re not but all the kids have helped me to really mean yeah I mean my own children I mean I ve got 5 children my own and 5 stepchildren about that many of that 10 all together so they ve all contributors sort of shape or form and you could probably feel what being Emily pacing that was doing well yeah that s how that s what that s how the festival scene is just so huge you know but a lot more of them are going on around me I m allergic going to think of it and not mention it to be really important to me so this book could be like twice as basic Yeah it could be a lot more than just saying. Just a moment. Yeah. She was great Sunday afternoon. Plays in sunshine. Call even though the pyramid might but now Michael even. With him in your living room and more by the local for ya you can overlook the festival site the top end of it I must be nice although I say I own and. Because if. It s not about anyone famous in this living room or some paint we have on are here and I m Ok we won t name drop you know I don t like to do that it s not just on it I know it s not you I mean you don t you don t know many famous people do you Richard being out there yeah Chris function you know see asco see his loves us and I didn t play last year but he went on stage loads of different bands Dinny trade lots of times but he ll be back in one day Monday we heard you open them yes we played the song yes the orphans playing in Jordan today and. Yeah and trying to Jordan Yeah if you re a live concert in Jordan today when they played pyramid ia are you still the respond remember the colored responds to change yeah I got that I thought that was great I got a couple of them still keep them as a souvenir and he spent a lot of money on license and I think so from Fortune here now in the news this week Paul McCartney. Have tweeted he s playing. That must be a good thing to have him back there my 1st choice of was was that you know a friend 1st of all yeah and. Daughters were very keen for me to do it as I saw the daughters last year s festival last year yet Marion. They were very keen for him to come back this year yeah I mean next year how do you keep that secret then I sure didn t because the Clinton road to put on point 1st and you remember yes he did it it is very naughty and. Never did happen in the end and if it it had not happened it would have been bastions where you got him yeah yeah not that you re going to tell me but if you got most of next year s school teacher my favorite headline booked already yes already booked Will I like them I can t go to the 2nd one now that s fine oh you re covered it would I everybody yeah everybody loves her yeah there s no but there s no known names at the moment but it s a she well I m already looking for to Diana Ross because she s been only a year if you met her before now I have met him before but she just from the resolve she be getting I think she d be very good ear you have regular 5 o clock Sunday afternoon for the veterans that yeah yeah so I do it so as far as far as you next year goes how far down the road are you hit with nearly Christmas time you saw even the place you want to be. Sure of the Pounds were all about yeah the headliners all of them oh yeah all of them yet every can answer going to of course not a lesser problem would be the best festival ever been to there s so much pressure on the 50th is now. On the show Ok only this year is the best weather be interpreted to mean all sorts of new projects like the pier and that sort of thing and it would be very difficult to do better in this year than it was this year yeah I reckon so I do because this she was perfect the weather is well yeah and prove the peer was all brand new it. You know with the new crane from Arcadia as well yeah. So there was a new feature about we re developing the crane I know it s because the creative space because the sheer crane States. The fate of the mission of that yeah. And of the keeper there you know maybe kind of interesting specs given if you take it skippy after 50 years yank you know thank you if you do refuse we take it so yeah actually. 28 minutes a well gong Yeah if you keep a couple back for yourself. You know I don t know if you know I don t expect you do you have no idea I just drive and I say wait a minute there s any way to stop you. Of they have to have a yell from Goshen of the security thing assuring girls just go yeah. She wants to change out of my car and yeah come back come back come back yeah and you know I had to go back to. What did you say she was so impressed with her dedication to her duty Oh yeah. I thought well. You know I am thing she s done that I did do that you ve done that. When you do the next book yeah I loved it the next one boy in 20 years time yeah no shit load of stuff and so be recorded yeah yeah if I kick the bucket it s all they say well you ain t going nowhere any time soon enough to know about your I got. My book I have. A fellow Somerset Fama. Framed. He s a killer. Blood The Killers shelter the night I have got my ticket I will be the. Last. 50 years old Michael and Emily Eavis the book is out now if you re into that school stuff you have a read of it now join the house song Pamela Good afternoon good afternoon Andy Pettitte you Bracy confessed your love of the festival and the bearded Holy One the faded How do you all know you do this every time I try to kind of no matter how well you to. Indeed think there was some sort of lustful affair going on I mean just just Harry in his voice the warmth and you just feel like everything will be alright you feel safe haven his voice and then reading that book he was telling a story about how they had some security down to Wolverhampton and to and to sort out for well over out. To so out the public you realize I m a former news Risher you know. I didn t put it but I said the security which trying to keep some of these kind of hit hard in revenue building this kind of big bar in the middle of the pyramid failed us and he said you can t do that I was going to buy some of the accident that I got a minute Ok. I can t do a source x. And no you can t I felt like a jerk. Here again or you can t do a summer. Pitch for last season s County Championship decide it with Essex they have a further 12 point deduction suspended for 2 years but 14 days to appeal this is b.b.c. Radio 5 Live on digital b.b.c. Sound small speaker. The weather much of the u.k. Will have a clear and cold night with a widespread shopfronts the could be some freezing fog punches in places to the odd show in the east. We should very let down by the b.b.c. Because I m excited about that picky plan to spend and she still team is going to be back here the snipers Hughes East Fife is not peeking through the blowing. Manager s well called the b.b.c. Call things what they are if I ve got a tin can this got by being true to life when I can eat a tight expected full and cool and big discs to b.b.c. I Player wasted on some. Good. Modern am and f.m. Around the u.k. On digital and online I m Raj Shah but all night at least one important respect the state of Israel stands outside international law the establishment of scattered settlements on the west bank of the Jordan up to the 6 Day War of 1967 never did have the blessing of the international community and this I would try to 16 the un Security Council with the United States abstaining resolved that they have no we go validity scant comfort for those Palestinian Arabs remaining in the historic part of Hebron for example and subjected to Housman by the Israeli army on Monday u.s. Secretary of state Mike compare reversed 4 decades of stated u.s. Policy to say the settlers are not breaking international law. Well in that same briefing Secretary of State pump aoe urged the Hong Kong legislature to take what he called clear steps to address public concern about the violence that swept the province in the last 2 weeks over a 100 people have been injured in violence between police and protesters defending the campus of Hong Kong s Polytechnic University thousands of protesters are Lare staged a daring escape from the police surrounding them by shining them plastic Who is pipes on to a street below but saw that many of them were arrested and they all together it s believed around $100.00 people tried to escape the building but they were met with tear gas and rubber bullets fired by the police that he was as the associate editor of coconut c h k Hello Vicky. Where hello a long night far the protesters on other long night what s the latest What can you tell us well as the latest is at the event there are still. There s still quite a few protesters left on campus the occupation is still pretty much that we don t exactly know how many people are still inside the courtroom late last night suggested that maybe as many as 500 people but the 100 or so people he managed to escape a lot of them were minors or people and so people under the age of 60 so and let s just from seeing some life easy can still see police officers trying to be so I think we re getting ready for another long day at the Polytechnic University So is there any sign of a change or any sign of a break in which the police either move forward or back off. It s pretty hard to say we did see a pretty prominent very prominent probating politician did go in to try and negotiate for some people to leave peacefully so there was that we don t know if that s going to happen again but it s very hard to say at the moment it s very touching go so see is there any is there any indication at the moment of what the students want to I mean. They started off with some quite. Advanced a mob but. Yeah I was think the demand has been really changed it was definitely kind of been remarkable about these clashes on campuses that the pride prize or the protest 11 of the reasons why the purchases last study long is because protesters deployed this tactic of the water which is basically try not to occupy one place for too long yet in the last few days what we ve been seeing are universities protect their campuses so in addition to kind of some of the key demands such as the inquiry into place protest protestors they do just want police officers to not go in and arrest student without a warrant and it is a polytechnic the only university that s still holding out her protesters are holding up against the police Yeah yeah it s just a Polytechnic University a free all the university. Kind of occupied in the last few days but those occupations are pretty much been over so it s just one university standing and any more pronouncements by the by county law or any of the other people in Pa are about what they plan to do here what what they re going to do. Well Caroline is about to speak to journalists in about in just less than an hour or so and. We re kind of waiting to see if so we ve got district council elections coming up in Sunday these are local level actions and it kind of being seen as a kind of a barometer or a litmus test to see how popular the government is and has been a lot of talk as to whether or not those elections are going to be canceled so we are going to see if she would like indication if there are going to be any end of that hopefully today but it s very hard to talk to has the right. And we understand that more than 100 people are in hospital with their injuries or at least have been treated them hospital for their injuries. Yes see about a 100 people 100 but in terms of. You know fatalities there has been a fatality since that student was shot that we all saw on the video is that right that has suffered from the there hasn t been any. Big kind of fatality like at like a hasn t been an incident similar to that but that is just definitely kind of. Lended to increase tensions in the last few weeks or so but there have been at least a couple of instances of priest discharging firearms and Daven no one s been shot just yet. I mean those and is there any word of life having been used over the last night. I ve seen some reports on social media but they have to be verified but it s hard to say that those are definitely on Monday the early hours of Monday morning but as far as last night I m not sure. Well. At the moment I mean in the city. Things any quieter isn t any is there any more sense that this is on its way to being resolved the tall. Obviously did not really own public transit or still continue be disrupted there are still major roads have been blocked schools and schools have been suspended and cars have been cancelled at the diversity so you so what you have now a lot of students who have a lot of free time to protest effectively so there s no sign that things are going to quite quiet down and we have these elections hopefully coming up on Sunday so. We re going to see how that goes because Thanks for being with us. Thanks for having me Vicki want is associate editor of coconuts ski Well according to Brazil s space research agency the rate of destruction of the rain forest in the Brazilian Amundsen has climbed by nearly 30 percent in the last 12 months present both snarled who has in the past dismissed the assessments of the space research agency i n p has yet to comment on what would be the highest level of deforestation in a decade nearly 10000 square kilometers of forests were destroyed between August 28th scene and July $21000.00 and environmentalist say the boss not a government is encouraging logging and mining and cattle ranching in the Amazon and Tonio of the Idol is a researcher with the social environmental Institute in Brazil alone Antonio. I mean good from space maybe it s clearer to come out there s a rise of 30 percent surprise you it seems awfully high yet it s Or it s not surprising because this is a clear reflection of the ball scenario if fact which began in the since the election campaign and continue in the beginning of January 2019 with a lot of dismantling measures and with the ministry of environment in order for their old agencies responsible for protecting forests and the ira environment and what kind of measures are in is it just turning a blind eye to local farmers you know who want to go out and and burn off an acre so they can grow some more. There there there is a lot of managers I would say that every day we have a new narrative and clear message that works as an invitation for a crime and who are deforestation search as the these government is talking to their mark ation of Indigenous land the could of mordant 30 millions Brazilian realizing Birgitte of the pharaoh an agency of environment especially for law enforcement and also this government the France the mining and agriculture ooc t.v. Cities inside Indigenous lands this allowance is about the federal agency operations against illegal timber the huge interest on revisions the limits of protected in areas the Encourage went off alone land grabbing the removal of inspection posts the worst performance in law enforcement and an incredible early warning of the looking of the enforcement operate before the operations of course there is no one to do to a fool to pay their bill Starner a comprehensive list these these posts that were set up these observation posts how long had they been operational I mean I one of the police or other people in there watching what was happening yes there was. You see you pull in 20 sat on Brazilian States he close. Course isn t 21 states so there s no one where they re all posts for Environmental in law enforcement the land grabbers is attacking our friend their own agencies they are attacking indigenous people and run from your producers it s like you re the Amazon it s not it s a perfect Ariana for illegal crime. Apparently the Environment Minister Brazil says he s going to have an emergency meeting with the governors of these states on Wednesday is that going to be meaningful sorry the the environment minister says he s holding an emergency meeting with the governors of these Amazon States on Whedon s day is anything going to come of that. Yeah. The point is that another another important issue is that this government canceled the only financing instrument for combat deforestation which was the Amazon Tran. This is top is not only for a fusion the management model of these contract bird is really discredited that the current government shows to the main Donner s and we do this most of the Brazilian streets are trying to to contact directly to the funding donors in order to to solve problems and also the federal government today. Saleen death the the main the main strategy to combat different station is to to ask for help in 4 for the Brazilian States so again he s not he s not capital to to deal with your responsibilities and wouldn t the national pressure help obviously the N.G.O.s like you are very concerned but what about international government. Yeah I m. In Brazil Mers Mers most months give a clear message to turn international government is that please do not why do you for a station do not buy products there at produce the frustration. I think that the this is we are we are we are going backwards for our national targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions which we promise under the parties Parys agreement. And issue see most of economic Ian and I requote are all agreements that Brazil is dealing we have a clear indicators in this agreement is that the conservation and reduce the for station last week we have a meeting on the BRICs here in Brazil and and the government said there they are pretty early lining and compromise it with the targets of reducing greenhouse gases but today we can see that it s completely opposite. It s too bad thank you very much for talking to us thank you ma am thank you. Well as of a quick look at the morning front pages and there are certainly pictures of the. Prince Andrew and we made less because that s still a massive massive story the Financial Times talking about one of the royal family s most misjudged far is on television and the. Telegraph. Cartoon showing a diner Pizza Express inquiring about a dish on the menu that s our new once as a waitress alibi. Elsewhere the times talk about the need for an independent commission to run the debate as the Lib Dems and the Scottish National Party go to court to try to figure out whether to get. In the. In the days I think I m reading yesterday s news I m going to just start right there. As I read actually look at today s front page has a much better idea. The Sun saying that it is very very critical of Prince Andrew the headline says net closes on Andy and there are many papers who disagreed and drew out in the cold says the Daily Mail city backers as the Times abandon and Drew. The lead in The Guardian is about stuff in crisis in the n.h.s. We re going to look at the Financial Times without any more ado and here is Fred student we re going with the story about how the prime minister Porus Johnson has shelved a proposed cut corporation tax to because wants to free up about $6000000000.00 pounds extra spending and this would be the spending that we ve been seeing promised in the election not just from the conservatives but also from Labor to go into public services and other sort of you know measures social spending that is important would just be very important to voters now business that means having to sort of sit and wait. Until a proposed cut in corporation tax is going to be finally implemented after some delay not clear when that would be exactly and obviously this is all has to be said contingent on assuming you know if the conservatives are returned to office we see something different happen obviously if there s another outcome at the election I think there s sort of mixed feelings among some of the business community men they were quite looking forward I guess to the color of Irish attacks Yeah absolutely which will take me down 17 percent to year that s very competitive in European context and we re all aware that should Grex a go ahead as planned that s going to be. She where perhaps the u.k. Is going to seek to differentiate itself from. European neighbors but I think prison is putting a time trying to put a bit of a brave face on it obviously as you just suggested you know not something they re going to welcome a delay in this count but at the same time saying you know they. Can see this in a bigger picture Carol and fab and the director general of the c.b.i. The employers group said basically that by putting its head of perspiring if the tax cut could work if it was quite backed by further efforts to address the cost of doing business and promote growth basically if you see it in the round if there are other initiatives you could take. That would be you know support business and critically more also sort of stimulate growth in the economy then you know they could sort of live with that more free market voices an advocate see groups less happy about that there s the. Economic Affairs of a quite sort of outspoken free market think tank which is called the whole sort of announcement a mistake to be fair I think a lot of observers feel actually the conserves of the 2 takeaways that the. Some of the observers are making one critically it shows you that the whole situation for the government is quite tight in that if they are going to make these promises which are part of the whole pitch the on the on the doorstep during the campaign if they are going to be able to finance that then there s not a lot of money readily available to them so they re going to have to get it from elsewhere and this is why they re looking at measures like this and one assumes that they ve also taken the view that in the big picture when you re fighting an election you know you can afford to squeeze business a bit if you re going to be able to prioritize more copula measures such as the n.h.s. . And I would have thought politically if you re in an uncertain situation after the election and you you hope you you re going to be reelected it s nice not to have shot all your out rows the same time you might like to hang on to one or 2 depending on exactly a lot of the breaks it talks Yeah absolutely. So the Olympics. Goodness me what do we talk about 2020 next year. And a new sponsor come here we ve got to deal with a company b. And b. Which is. Technical is known as the accommodation booking platform from the us because you know it s sort of yes this facility where pretty much I just said you want to go and stay somewhere I could be connected up with someone who s got a room or for house to rent out through b. And b. And it s become one of the sort of great success stories as the tech. The business world of recent years it is now joining the elevated ranks of sponsors of the Olympic Games by signing a $500000000.00 deal to support the games until 2028 so it s a near 10 year sponsorship deal and they start that means being be which you know. Barely existed probably And so a decade ago. Is now up there with the likes of Coca-Cola Toyota and other names willing to measure them all but that you might sort of have spotted here and then when you were watching the Olympics on t.v. Or perhaps even stadium if you do a fortune after done that this instinct sort of aspect to all of this in that there is a way that that. Is sort of being drawn upon by the organizers of the Olympics who have been under pressure to cut the steep costs of hosting the games and basically they re sort of saying by bringing and b. And b. On board and there s going to be some sort of. Ability for it to provide you know basically it s going to be putting in some services such as free accommodation to athletes and executives that means that the host cities will not be under the same amount of pressure to build hotels and other accommodation facilities which in turn could possibly save them tens of millions of dollars so it s sort of spin pitched by the i.o.c. Is sort of being a sort of Good Housekeeping exercise and indeed even this in a way they can talk about they can you know. Craft a story about sustainability about the games because there have been allegations that you know a city wins a bid to go all out to provide all the facilities for what is actually often a registry short period of time and then the games move on and then sort of sometimes left with facilities they can t really sort of. Maintaining upkeep and then sort of completely out of proportion to the sort of ongoing needs of that city but stand back from it it is a sort of a bit of a moment that one of the sort of the companies associated with the boom and tech over the last decade or so has now sort of joined this very peculiar sort of elite club Well Hong Kong a skate anybody s notice and what s going on there that occupy a lot of our attention and how does battle Times treated. Well for us it s a big story my my should say you know we have a big editorial and commercial presence in Hong Kong so something that we very close to through our colleagues there as well been doing a brilliant job in keeping the business going and keeping getting you know carrying on with their work reporting the story or doing the commercial side of the operations and really what they ve been capturing the most recent reporting is this renewed escalation and this sense of a city under siege. When you ve got this now situation where sort of one of the city s universities is basic sort of you know. Is being besieged if you like Kali you. As it s known and just you know as we talked about before this sort of you know further escalation in violence and of Coles Now this. Whole has been this sort of fear that you know things would spin out of control to the point when. The authorities the military authorities from mainland China would have to step in and we mean there has already been a lot of tough and fiery rhetoric but there s more of that to come I mean police warned that the city the city as a whole was on quote the brink of total collapse because as well as these sort of flashpoints around it as we ve seen the uptick in particular institution there is also further evidence of just day to day life in Hong Kong being now so disrupted that it s having much of a knock on effect schools closing companies sending stuff away except and also from the you know Chinese authorities I mean in this case relayed through the Chinese ambassador in London very much who you know critical of the demonstrators talking. Inhumane inhuman murderous violence in broad daylight which he says turn the city into quotes in a base of chaos and again we ve got to mutterings about the future of Hong Kong and how if the situation continues to be unimaginably dreadful and then saying quite clearly quotes if the situation becomes uncontrollable the central government will not sit on its hands and watch you know you just sort of it s a further ratcheting up and I think everyone s very nervous. To how this is really going to play out. I will continue to keep an eye on that for us it s just after half past 1. On digital b.b.c. Sounds small stage but on Venus is b.b.c. Radio 5 live with the news here s out of Hodge s groups of protesters trying to leave the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong are being targeted with tear gas and rubber bullets fired by police some protesters fall back with petrol bombs and brakes as some of the worst clashes seen during months of unrest in the Territory k p m g has ended its sponsorship of Prince Andres entrepreneurship scheme Pichot Palace it s understood the accountancy firm made the decision last month and his relationship with a convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was a factor the family of Jodi Chesney who was stabbed to death in East London in March have praised the police for the conviction of her killer as the 17 year old was attacked while sitting with friends in a park in a case of mistaken identity sense an On the Qui and r n Isaacs have both been given life sentences and the Lib Dems and s.m.p. Won t be included in i.t.v. This was a night without was one of those over snow to remember and honest disappointed us not Republic of Ireland will play either Bosnia Herzegovina Slovakia or Wales away in March in their playoff semifinal although in 24 hours Wales may have secured their place in the finals automatically they need to beat hungry in Cardiff to qualify Basra and. Igs will have our own Ramsey and Gareth Bale to call upon but is expected to continue to opt for youth elsewhere on the pitch I got given a chance as the young player so believe that if you give your clothes which are you know if you believe in the quality that one way you know age doesn t really matter to me were older players or younger players it s the quality that you ve got to show on the pitch and a good attitude England rugby union head coach Eddie Jones has admitted Sarson 35 point deduction for breaching the salary cap could have a significant impact on his team with the club bottom of the table on minus $22.00 points he s told the b.b.c. Some of England Saracens players may decide to skip the 6 Nations to try to save their club from relegation but in classic Eddie Jones fashion he s staying pretty philosophical about the situation and that s a great thing about sport you know when everything is he going well is always something to do to make you humble again and they began the right below the gamma for 4 ball in cricket Somerset are set to start next season on minus 12 points after they were found guilty of preparing a poor pitch for last season s County Championship to side up with Essex they have a further 12 point deduction suspended for 2 years but do have 14 days to appeal Meanwhile x. Radio 5 Live a little on the b.b.c. Sounds all night with rock shop right well and washed out on Monday Secretary of State my pump a.o. And I was that Washington will no longer consider Israeli settlements built New York about West Bank to be illegal the move breaks with 4 decades of State Department policy and I was certain to delight in the government of Israel and equally dismay at the Palestinians and $978.00 the State Department drew up a legal opinion which has now been. Voided called the Hansel memorandum saying the settlements were inconsistent with international law might pay or made the announcement at a news conference the State Department the traffic ministrations reversing the Obama administration s approach towards Israeli settlements u.s. Public statements on 7 activities in the West Bank have been inconsistent over decades 1978 the Carter administration categorically concluded that Israel s establishment of civilian settlements was inconsistent with international law however in 1901 President Reagan disagree with that conclusion and stated that he didn t believe that the settlements were inherently illegal. Subsequent administrations recognized that unrestrained settlement activity could be an obstacle to peace but they wisely imprudently recognize that well in a legal positions didn t advance peace however in December 2016 at the very end of the previous administration Secretary Kerry changed decades of this careful bipartisan approach by publicly reaffirming the supposed illegal illegality of settlements. After carefully studying all sides of the legal debate this administration agrees with President Reagan the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not per se inconsistent with international law. Dr Mike Evans is the founder of the friends of Zion museum and the member of the Trump even Jellicoe advisory team and has recently spoken to Secretary of State Pirro Hello Dr Evans I would be working good to have you with us to well I wonder I mean I am going to put you in the position of defending if you like some of the things Mr Pierce said there because. One of the things he said was that President Reagan. Said that the settlements he didn t believe the settlements were illegal per se but didn t he also call him an obstacle to peace and isn t that what it s all really about no it s not at all you know. Evangelicals virtually 5 all now is the Bible illegal because the Bible tell us a hold on the Bible an obstacle to peace nobody would say no it s not an obstacle to peace but the Bible is a history book that talks about u.t. In some areas for thousands of years this is a latent boycotting these people can you imagine them boycotting all the Brits because you ve occupied some land Well guess what are you sorry I beg your pardon sir Dark Times who s been boycotting who. The e.u. Your house is a good sort are sold in some area they want they now have passed even the last thing you got to market is goods because it s called p.d.s. Where you boycott people s goods because you say we believe it s illegal Well we don t believe it s illegal we believe it s it s part of the Bible either there is a there is an international president for saying it s illegal isn t there are the it s believed that the 4th convention of the under the Geneva protocols says that it s illegal or that there s been a you know a determination of the United Nations or quite a lot going on it says you dear Sumeria existed before your nice United Nations or Geneva excess. And by the way I am a true Mike I was named after Mike great grandfather who was burnt to death in a synagogue with 2000 Jews surely here in Israel are killed for being Jews now think of that if this way if you were living in Great Britain and they told you every one can live in this town but blacks the blacks can live in this town I guarantee you don t be an uproar in Great Britain but I wrote How about . What they re saying about Jews how I said Sure it s interesting that I could I said I mean is that how about the condition of the 200000 or so Palestinians in the city of Hebron as compared to the less than a 1000 settlers in Hebron the settlers have a pretty good time of it don t they by comparison I don t well protected by law it was local authorities I was with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia and we had this discussion and you know what he said to me and b.s. He said the Palestinians should copy Israel not fight Israel cut the Israel Israel has learned how to prosper and have a great economy but the reality is the Palestinians are not copying Israel they are teaching their children as babies to hate Jews and they re also stealing the money from the Palestinian people through corruption it s wrong they should have a wonderful light right everybody should have a wonderful life peaceful coexistence is not the aim here. Well if you re the Ku Klux Klan Listen I have an area and killed 2 people on the way to my home and one was a state trooper because he was a crazy Jew hating area you re talking about what happened in the United States and he wasn t of anti Semitism that s not what we re talking about here surely all will of course we are Listen if you remove anti-Semitism from the equation there is no problem solving the problem 100 percent you can solve it if found tell you some it is a misery move let me give an example how many Palestinians live in America I don t know the answer you tell me it s 3 quarters of a 1000000 there is no problem with Palestinians America no problem at all if you remove most anti-Semitism through the equation there is no problem solving the problem but as long as you have anti-Semitism you can t solve the problem because it s a heart and problem not a land problem can I ask you a little bit about the biblical antecedents for this because I know these are regarded as the Bible lands. But it all did happen rather a long time ago didn t it I mean when the conditions in these lands changed a lot between 4000 years ago all you re in jail sleet right 28 different civilizations came in and took the lands of the Jews the Romans the Greeks the Crusaders they raped the pilgrim the land and the Ottomans So the Jews such suffered a lot throughout history because of anti-Semitism listen they were killing Jews when they didn t have land 6000000 were killed in Europe as you well know there was no land for them to call Joe they were killed because they were too us. Ok can I go back to one thing that the secretary of state has said which is that the u.s. Position on the settlements until today has been inconsistent I mean and in 2016 we had the then u.n. Ambassador Samantha Power saying it been a longstanding u.s. Position that the settlements undermined Israel s security and eroded the prospects for peace and all of those characters from Jimmy Carter on down or p.s. Theater experts that s all they did was show and tell they weren t trying to solve the problem with the Palestinians listen the Palestinian problem you can go to any Gulf city state and you ask them what they think about the Palestinian problem I have I know I can tell you if you remove corruption anti-Semitism you can solve the Palestinian problem but you can expect Jewish people that get killed because they re Jews tooth want to embrace someone that wants to kill them or thinks they re they re descendants of monkeys and picks. Can I ask just before we let you go Amber I m grateful so grateful to you for coming to talk to us is there anything that the secretary of state and you discussed today that you d like to share with us I know you had a quelling talking to Secretary of State that we you ve been Jellicoe feel like we ve been kissed by God that we re so happy for the Borel clarity that he house we have an evangelical secretary of state we have an evangelical vice president and we have a president that understands our beliefs and our faith and we like that very much I told the please thank the president for us because we want a solution to the problem but not not play with people s lives don t be honest with them listen we re talking about $50000000000.00 that s certain the site because of a peace plan through Germany questionnaire and Donald Trump and there s much more they can do to help the Palestinians it s a shame on Peres and we should to where you can pass the economic reform you can make their lives better but you have to train the swamp and get rid of the anti-Semitism that that the peace the innocent babies are being taught and again we have any more of that peace plan it it would seem that it s not been very fully expressed yet what it is that Mr Kushner rightly has in mind well Donald Trump it is it s this initiative and he has a brilliant team and I can tell you they ll make it very clear when they re ready to make it clear and I I know this from the little I know that there is a plausible solution they have for the Palestinian problem that can give these young people a wonderful life but if you have to have a partner who doesn t want to kill he ll you ve got to have a partner who does the sky issue because you were born a true daughter Micah from the the the organization Friends of Zion museum thank you very much Stuart all the best to you thank you. No time for some tunes from someone who many would consider the greatest popular musician of the last 60 years. Thank goodness for silly love songs they can farm the same headline night and that shows Glastonbury festival 78 to be the oldest headliner on the Pyramid stage it s not the 1st time he played there it was previously triumphantly on the lineup in 2004 and things just stopped for a I spoke to Daniel Welsh entertainment reporter perhaps. If he feels that the. I suppose it s taking a bit of a gamble playing again at this year s festival I don t think though I think people I think people know what they re getting with Paul McCartney I can t imagine it s going to be a particularly risky performance I think at this stage you know he s been doing it for decades upon decades upon decades and people who are going to be going along and know what they re going to be Ken I suppose theoretically there are people who are going to hear him who weren t born in 2004 I mean it s just a possibility so they won t remember that performance anywhere they were given it to compare against Oh yeah exactly but I think I think like he said it was the reception he got last time was still big that this being the 50th anniversary it makes sense to have a bit to you know has contributed so much to kind of British music I think it s a good idea for with national Yes I have somebody as legendary as somebody who was in the old. And he s going to be the headliner there on the Saturday June Saturday of Glastonbury so nobody else I mean whatever whatever other acts the book there will be anybody who can eclipse him well the result is that the general idea Well I think the idea this yeah I mean I would hope with it being the 50th anniversary since they ve got him legend stay there the 2 slots are going to be filled by either people who are right in high right now or people who are more open common which is what they did last year with storm c. And he went down amazingly well he. Got everybody involved everybody was talking about up a form which is interesting because you know he s literally only released one album and yet he had the crowd in the palm of his hand had everybody talking the next day and it was one of the standout performances of the whole weekend. Pretty good they ve got than a Ross on the Sunday isn t that it would be a lot I can t wait to see what she pulls out a custom brick. So from from a kind of you know fun point of view it feels like the last race show mainstream but is it still pulling in kids you know is it pulling in people who are really interested the new music I would say so especially last year with people like like storm city but I think last year as well the most of the conversation I saw was not around the headliners Anyway it wasn t around the cure it wasn t around the killers It was around people like Billy Eilish and Liz Owen all of these kind of a been covered people and I think that really the thing with Glastonbury is number one there s like a 1000000 stages but also you don t just go for the music you d go for the experience and the so much going on besides main stages as well and so if your daughter McCartney fund which you know a lot of people aren t particularly young people if you I mean if I was somebody who bought a ticket based on storms the last year I don t have a cite I would see Paul McCartney but the thought much else going on that you know there s plenty to do for everybody to care to all tastes really and how long before the whole program comes together of obviously you know you ve got to hang on whenever you re doing an event you have to get somebody to agree and then you can kind of pull everybody else and the general idea I mean I gather that Emily Eavis and Michael Eavis who organized all saying that it s pretty much a 365 job like they don t stop they re always in talks with people they re always bringing people backstage at Glastonbury I remember reading that if you d Emily Eavis she had Adele with her back stage I think when Kanye West was before men and she literally got Adele there and then to say yes I ll be back next year so I think it s pretty much full time for them. And has are something that you d like to see a Glastonbury this year. Well the rumors this year all Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar Emily Eavis has said that it s 2 people who ve never performed at last to prepare for either of those and I think that those would be pretty good I think I get them all is he s doing the stuff that nobody else is doing in terms of rap music which I think is exactly what Glastonbury needs to kind of counteract somebody like Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift is just the ultimate crowd pleaser and again if you re not a lesser fan you can go elsewhere you can watch a 1000000 other things that a 1000000000 other stages in the I would love to see somebody like somebody like Riana who s got a bit more of an edge and again she s never played Glastonbury before she s got you music coming out next year so she would be perfect for them there also talk about the 1975 they played Glastonbury for the how they played a few times they ve never headlined but I know that my Healey is that a few times that it became to headline whether or not that comes together now next year at least we ll have to wait and see particularly as Emily Eavis has said that it s going to be somebody who s never performed before. Daniel Welsh Let s join Lynn Sweet Congress on types hello where Hello to you and it s a way of getting through to people who don t have as much technology as some new What s what s the news from Chicago where we are a few things I d like to talk about in our segment that really are kind of urban issues that might people in a lot of big cities who are listening to us might deal with one of them what you just talked about is Chicago has a big high tech industry but it s basically clustered in well let s just say it plainly and the white areas of the city so we have a story and how there s a tech firm dead deals with sorting out legal documents and they re starting a pilot program to train people no matter their background in this technical skills you need to work in this software company and and they ve got together a group of 15 companies to identify people through the years to train them this isn t just sending people to coding camp it s a recognition that there are other jobs within the high tech industry that people could go for if they desk can figure out I guess how to get in the pipeline so this is an effort to reach out to the underserved communities to to do this and it was considered a big enough deal that mare the numeric Lori Lightfoot was in attendance to help her a spotlight in a program that yes going to look for 20 people to start out with. Well it s modest but you ve got to start somewhere there s great good right let s let s go on and talk about the way that you go to a hospital or at least the way that some people behave in a hospital Well this is something again that this is this is the stuff that city fights are made out of where different you know no one wants that in their backyard so there s something in Chicago and you might have it in other cities where we have house spittles in the middle of downtown there are big important hospitals and they don t like it when there are street musicians and other noisy things going on so they actually have had the clout to create quiet sounds can you believe it acquired some because you know it s a hospital right in the hospital a sort of perimeter where you can t play or my Thor going to whatever right or you can t use a Bull have Baltimore and or you can t have music you can t have a street buskers where people are just performing on the streets and it s really a back door band and street musicians so it s said and the move in Chicago is is that there have been some more attempts just in the last day to try and get these quiet zones made. Approved this could be controversial because you know you have Reza dent in our Chicago downtown it s includes a lot of residential areas around these hospitals as well as commercial and hospitals so when you have these mixed uses in these densely populated urban areas it really is a sorting out of entitled to what kind of rights. And is it clear which way the city council feels about this county I think the quiet sounds are approved sell sell jump bring your street act to some of these hospitals and also go somewhere else and lastly this fellow has been dubbed a serial store way this is a woman who is maybe nots but she has been successful this isn t an urban legend This is urban reality in that there is a woman who is just obsessed with getting on planes and she s been successful in going to it O Hare Airport and I She just was she had been arrested an actor or went but was found unfit for trial when she was found trying to sneak aboard a transatlantic flight so the latest is that even though she was in a facility not a prison but just a place to for people with mental problems she was ordered held for psychiatric evaluation because Marilyn Hartman has been added again it s a little bit of an offbeat news but it it s just when you live in the cities with a big airport and you have this temptation some people just can t resist it but and a serious note the fact that in this air of big security at airport that she even gets as far as she does is something that worth noting. If all you re thinking about is getting on that flight somehow and you can get through all right all and she just looks like a harmless old woman but now you know we say in our story that everyone at O Hare Airport carries a picture of Marilyn Hart and that Mildred s is as well get a pos you know are not us. Hear it makes sense Sweet Dreams Are Made of this this is b.b.c. Somerset and Thursday s drive I met with you till 7 you know what it was in 1922 the b.b.c. Started its 1st daily radio service and back then it was known as the British Broadcasting Company and just had 4 staff at 6 pm The news was read by author Barros and he read the bulletin twice once quickly and once slowly and asked listeners to let him know what speed they preferred is that brilliant Andy Broxton has been taking a look back at how it all started on the 14th of November 1922 borrows director of programs at the British Broadcasting Company launched Britain s new 1st national radio service. In the Strand London speaking with the author nation that would soon become iconic here in the transmission. Heard the numbers certainly heard her confident current through her cover but how did that come about. Well it all comes back to the 1st World War and the sending of communications by radio waves. Following the 1st World War a small but loyal army of enthusiastic returned home excited at the prospect of this new technology they soon started setting up a network of radios and receivers in back bedrooms garden sheds and in fact anywhere they could get a signal on their homemade sets then the Marconi company gets involved and at the heart of their team a man called Peter Eckersley he soon gets bored of sending out repetitive test signals though seeing how far the signal can reach him what he could say and so instead starts telling jokes and singing to liven things up it went down a storm with enthusiastic but not so much with the post office who controlled the airwaves and in 1920 they ended up banning the station after a barrage of complaints over the post office were forced to reverse their decision but on one condition d radio needs to be regulated the post office then bringing a number of electrical firms together as a new entity is born the British Broadcasting Company they alone are granted the right to broadcast radio to the masses 2 then on a foggy 191922 the transmitter which took up pretty much most of the room crackled into life throwing the voice of affable Rose right across London soon after his voice is joined by a medley of others including news and weather and even music once the preserve of amateur radio enthusiastic radio becomes a high use old favorite with radio sets being the must have for any livingroom. When the next world war comes around it s a b.b.c. Radio and heard by $9000000.00 listeners now that s the power of radio. Isn t that lovely. Reporting. The power of radio now brings you the. Travel.
