Manslaughter charge upgraded to murder for Box Elder woman accused of killing two-year-old girl February 22, 2021 RAPID CITY, S.D. — A second-degree manslaughter charge has now been upgraded to second-degree murder for the Box Elder woman accused of killing a two-year-old child. 22-year-old Precious Delaney Black Elk is now facing a mandatory life-sentence for the Feb. 7 crime, where law enforcement responded to a 911 call that a child was not breathing. After arriving on-scene, officers found the child unresponsive and beyond resuscitation, and reported bruising on the infant. Additional investigators from Box Elder Police and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office were brought in at that time.
KNBN NewsCenter1 February 8, 2021 BOX ELDER, S.D. — On Sunday, February 7, Box Elder Police and Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at 240 N. Ellsworth Rd. for a child that was not breathing. Law enforcement arrived on-scene and found a two year old unresponsive and beyond resuscitation. The responding officers reported bruising on the infant and called in additional investigators from Box Elder Police and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Monday, after reviewing available information and the completion of an autopsy, 22-year-old Precious Delaney Black Elk of Box Elder was taken into custody and charged with one count of second-degree Manslaughter and one count Abuse or Cruelty to a Minor Under Age Seven.
