It s the worst metric out there. 350,000 people left the labor force last month. 350,000 people left. that s where the number is where it is right now. that s not a booming economy, is it? no, that s right. we see a labor force participation rate in the low 60s. that s very low. some of that is due to spending programs that have been created during the pandemic that have effectively kept people out of the work force because it s paid them not to work. we have to get people back in the work force that is a more reliable predictor of the health of this economy, which is in shaky territory despite what the president says. charles: it s ironic what you say. i interview the big wall street folks. many of them brag that they say as much as 2.5 trillion in excess savings. i never heard of excess savings. nevertheless, it s all of that stimulus money out there. some of it s still sloshing around. isn t that what sparked this ....
