EVERY year the Falmouth Rotary Club’s Christmas float is a familiar sight around the town but this year, because of the pandemic, Santa is hanging up his boots and appealing for online donations instead. The club felt that not collecting with the float was more responsible in the present crisis and has instead moved its collection activities for local charities online It does much to support local charities, having donated considerable sums this year to The Salvation Army, Cornwall Air Ambulance and the Dracaena Centre amongst others, along with their support for young carers and local youth activities. Club President Glenn Wilkes said “This was a difficult decision for the club, as the Christmas float is our best fundraiser. We have however opened a Just Giving page and hope that the public will support us through that to enable us to carry on providing a service to our community”. ....
