chris hayes. one of the two republican members of the january six committee just offered a stark, personal warning about the threat of political violence in this country. a topic he knows a thing or two about. this threat that came in was mailed to my house. we got it a couple of days ago. it threatens to execute me, as well as my wife and five month old child. i have never seen or had anything like that. there are people, there is violence in the future. i m going to tell, you until we get a grip on telling people the truth, we cannot expect any differently. that is adam kinzinger, illinois. he has been in congress for more than a decade. the vast majority of that time he has acted and voted like a conservative republican, which is what he is. he voted in line with donald trump s position, 90% of the time. but after the attempted coup on january six, kings inner was one of ten republicans who voted to impeach trump. and since then he has been essentially ex communi ....
Who attended to the last three january 16, and she joins me now. sandra, thank you so much for coming out. and i really appreciate it. i want to start with the question about attending the hearing. i imagine it was something that you thought about. i can imagine it is profoundly difficult emotionally. why did you decide to go to the two hearings that you did? well first, christina thank you for having me on your show again. but there is a great quote from buddha that i just love. it says three things cannot hide for long and that is this, on the moon in the truth. and these hearings are bringing out the truth and all it is beautiful glory. and that is why it is so important for i think all of america to watch the hearings. it is also really important for me to be there. i mean i had a feeling in my heart just for my own personal experiences that trump was responsible for instigating the event. ....
He s a clear and present danger, according to judge luttig, one of the most conservative level judges on the bench for so many years. it s a grave concern. we re gonna have a hearing tomorrow. the witnesses have been announced. key witnesses, brad raffensperger, gabe starlink, both secretary of state s office, who were quite outspoken, at the time, about the presidents attempt to overturn the election. rusty powers who is a republican official in arizona, we have not heard from, who as far as i can tell, hasn t really spoken publicly about what went down in arizona. what can you tell us about him? well, i would say, why don t you watch the hearings tomorrow? ....
But obviously, i learned some new things there myself. for instance, i did not know that vice president pence at the time was pretty much the one who was calling the shots. and that president trump at the time was irritated about that. he was more concerned about the narrative on how that would look, versus doing the right thing on protecting the public at the time. so, as well as other things i mean we saw new footage that we had not seen before which was incredibly painful. and it to be quite honest, i didn t want to go to the first hearing. it was actually officer dunn who called me and said, you know sandra, it would really mean a lot to me if you would go. and so, that is pretty much what s convinced me to go. and after the fact, i m glad that i did. ....
Or just completely unabated from the same individual? well, it s concerning. i mean, it s very obvious, and we have evidence laid out, that he, the election was not fraudulent. he knew it wasn t fraudulent. he kept saying it, and he is still saying it, that will see, tomorrow, and later in the week, his efforts to subvert state election processes and, you know, he is still clinging to these falsehoods and the question is why. is it to further undercut confidence in the electoral system, so that he has a chance to prevail in some future election? that s basically what one of the judge luttig referred to in our hearing last week, that ....
