Fellow at the washington institute for near east policy. great to have you. are we watching a civil war happen before our eyes? well i think what we re seeing is a big mistake by president moubarak in a sense. after he gave his speech where he said he would step down in september i think there was some debate within the opposition as to whether they should continue with the protests. when these pro government thugs came out into the square i think that once again united the opposition rather than demoral liesing them as the government may have hoped. i think what we see now is not so much a civil war between two sides but sort of a splintering more than anything else. you saw the new vice president of egypt talking about investigating the violence, then you saw the new prime minister of egypt talking in very remarkable and contrite terms about the violence not being rational or logical. i think there is a war going on ....
All americans to get out of country, telling u.s. citizens to immediately head for the airport. leland hav vittert is live in c. reporter: once again things have gone from really bad to even worst. the violent clashes between pro moubarak and antigovernment protestors in tahrir square have turned violent. we thought it was going to get better today, early in the morning the army moved in and moved some of the pro moubarak supporters off the bridges where they were throwing the molotov cocktails. the army has since disappeared. once again automatic weapons fire inside tahrir square. once again molotov cocktails. once again a lot of people getting hurt. the antigovernment protesters are saying they are not going to leave. they have built these makeshift jon: it appears we have lost our ....
Part of that. so we expect the president will call for congress allowing a tax crit for businesses that want to retrofit their headquarters, their buildings to make them more energy efficient, make the case that that is not only b good for our economy and our businesses, but also make sense in terms of energy usage down the road. so the president s there at penn state university. the university s part of a high-tech research consortium that is working on energy technology, so the president is touring some labs there. obviously, it s been a brutally cold winter in many parts of this country. the president was supposed to go there yesterday, delayed the trip a day because of the massive storm affecting the country. so talks of making things more energy efficient during such a cold winter is something that a lot of americans are probably thinking about at this time. i should note that the president, obviously, has been still keeping tabs on the situation in egypt, but this is once again a ....

Next leader of yemen. protestors are saying that is not good enough. we want fair and free elections and want a new leader. we are expected to see demonstrations in jordan tomorrow and syria on saturday and there are moves in algeria to the west of tunisia where the president said he was going to lift the state of emergency that s been in place since 1992. there are protests planned for a week from saturday. not known if that preemptive move on that president s part will take some of the air out of that. across the region protestors coming out and in some places they are actually getting things changed. jon: what is the fallout from all these protests, john? reporter: this whole thing was inspired by what happened in tunisia when the president was kicked out of office. we are watching what s happen in egypt now, what s happening there is being influenced by tunisia. what happens in egypt could set ....
