Bureau of Land Management accepting comments on parcels for October geothermal lease sale
RENO, Nev.  The Bureau of Land Management Nevada is asking the public to review and provide comment on an environmental assessments and unsigned finding of no significant impacts for its October 5, 2021 geothermal lease sale.  The sale includes 32 parcels totaling 83,063.690 acres on the Battle Mountain, Carson City, Elko, Ely and Winnemucca Districts.
32 parcels totaling 83,063.690 acres of federal lands in 8 counties are proposed for lease. The 30-day comment period will run from July 7-August 6. 
This geothermal sale supports President Biden’s goal of creating a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035, and to permit at least 25 gigawatts of solar, wind, and geothermal production on public lands by 2025. The BLM works hard, and in coordination with experts, to expand development of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and geothermal where approp ....
