LeBron James’ new movie, “Shooting Stars,” premiered at House Three Thirty in Akron on Saturday. The newly remodeled community space hosted screenings of the film for I Promise Program families, Akron St. Vincent–St. Mary High School students and staff, and LeBron James Family Foundation community partners throughout the day. A red-carpet event featuring the film's producers, directors, James’ high-school coach and his high-school teammates followed the showings.

Wanting to provide students a place for reflection and meditation, and a place to enjoy a few moments of calm, the Promise Program will begin building a labyrinth in front of WHS.

On Maui, the budget includes the addition of $6.1 million in general funds in FY24 and FY25 for the Maui Axis Deer program; $1.1 million in FY25 for six months of funding to support new housing at the Maui Community Correctional Center; and the addition of three permanent positions and $98,500 in FY24 and $200,250 in FY25 for UH Maui College’s health center.

Under a Broward schools proposal, the Promise program would be replaced by a program that would not involve the school district issuing civil citations, which are non-criminal warnings that law enforcement may refer to when deciding whether to arrest someone for a later crime.

Nitya Jakka of Aurora, Illinois, has developed a way to ensure more produce makes it to store shelves. Her company, Terraclu, uses sensors to track crops’ output of ethylene, the gas released as they ripen.
