Having played 18 seasons with the Miami Heat, Udonis Haslem is the definition of an NBA veteran. But when he's not busy stacking up championship rings, Mr. 305 is also a successful restaurant owner, an avid car collector, and one of the league's biggest takeout junkies. Over pizza and wings (delivered straight from Haslem's own 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen), UD drops gems about his native Miami, dishes on former teammates like Shaquille O'Neal and Lebron James, and explains his long-standing love affair with takeout ramen.

Clippers news: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George ripped by Tyronn Lue after 24-point win over Lakers

Card image cap

May 7, 2021
Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and the LA Clippers swept the season series vs. the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time since the 2015-16 season. With LeBron James out and Anthony Davis only playing nine minutes, Tyronn Lue’s squad rolled over the Lakers, 118-94.
Lue, however, was as angry as a coach could be following his team’s 24 point win.
“We were just messing around too much,” Lue explained, citing the uncharacteristic, season-high 22 turnovers. “We got to be a more disciplined, more solid team, which we have been all season. Just lately, turning the basketball over, just messing around with the game, playing with the game a little too much for me right now.”

The loss kept the defending NBA champion Lakers at No. 6. The Staples Center co-tenants could potentially face each other in the first round.

If you think Dogecoin is going to the moon, wait until you see the black-on-black murder rate.
As per the “Pandemic, Social Unrest, and Crime in U.S. Cities” report by CCJ (the National Commission on Covid-19 and Criminal Justice), murder is way up

I’ve never heard of them either. A weird combo report on the Covid virus and crime.
The January 2021 report states that crime is skyrocketing in major U.S. cities.  They report an overall 30% rise in murder from 2019-2020. Most of the victims are black and most were killed by black people. Despite the grotesques rise in murder rates, left-leaning crime studies, including this one, always point out, “At least it’s better now than it was in 1995.”

The Portland Trail Blazers are at home in the Moda Center tonight, taking on the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s a big game for a lot of reasons — one being that after over a year, fans are finally back in the building. While it’s at a low capacity, having Rip City back in the arena is sure to add to the Blazers’ energy. Tonight is also a big game as the Lakers and the Trail Blazers are both fighting to avoid the play-in tournament. Tonight’s game will have a big impact on who advances safely to the playoffs and who fights for their spot in the play-in. It’s a big game tonight, and Portland needs the win.

Faced with arguably their biggest game of the season, the Portland Trail Blazers muscled past the Los Angeles Lakers 106-101, breaking a tie for the sixth seed in the Western Conference, clinching a season-series victory over the defending champions and retaining control of their play-in tournament destiny.
Only the top six seeds in each conference will advance to the first round of the postseason automatically. Teams that finish seventh through tenth place will participate in a single-elimination play-in tournament beginning May 18.

Mavs news: Rick Carlisle on Luka Doncic, Mark Cuban's play-in stance

May 7, 2021
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle has weighed in on the much-talked-about play-in tournament. Mavs star Luka Doncic himself was just one of the multitude of players from around the league — along with team owner Mark Cuban — who have criticized the NBA for their plans to hold the pre-playoffs mini-tournament. As it turns out, however, coach Carlisle is taking a bit of a different approach.
Carlisle did acknowledge that the league has been receiving a lot of stick for their play-in plans, but he did also say that it’s just a matter of perspective (h/t Tim MacMahon of ESPN):

The Trail Blazers couldn’t have picked a better time to welcome fans back to the Moda Center than a Friday matchup against the arch rival Lakers in a game with pole position for the sixth and final fixed playoff position in the Western Conference at stake.
It was probably more nerve-racking than they would have liked, with the Lakers making repeated runs behind a rare dominant performance from the oft-injured Anthony Davis (36 points, 12 rebounds). But with Damian Lillard pouring in 38 points and CJ McCollum adding 21, the Blazers held firm to earn perhaps their biggest win of the season, and certainly the biggest on a busy 10-game night loaded with playoff implications.

Portland Trail Blazers welcomed fans to the Moda Center for the first time this season and earned maybe their most important win so far, holding on to defeat the limping Los Angeles Lakers 106-101 Friday night.
With the victory, the Blazers improve to 38-29 and gain sole possession of 6th place in the West, one full game ahead of the Lakers. They also hold the head-to-head tie-breaker for the season against the Lakers in the event of a direct tie for seeding position in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
Damian Lillard was exceptional, honoring the Rip City faithful with a 38-point gem to go along with 7 assists and 2 steals. He also snagged an important rebound down the stretch and delivered the game-sealing free throws while being serenaded to genuine, non-artificial MVP chants.

Lakers vs. Trail Blazers Final Score: L.A. looks destined for play-in

Get familiarized with the play-in rules, folks because with a 106-101 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers will likely be participating in it this season. Here’s why:
The Lakers are the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, which puts them in position for a play-in game with the No. 10 seed.
The Trail Blazers now own the tiebreaker with the Lakers, meaning that if they both end the regular season with same records, Portland would go into the playoffs as the higher seed.
The Lakers don’t own the tiebreaker with the Dallas Mavericks either and the Mavericks currently have a two-game cushion on the No. 7 seed.
