Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane appeared at Pretoria Magistrates Court on charges of perjury in relation to her 2017 Reserve Bank report.
Mkhwebane was facing off against the DA and President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Constitutional Court on Thursday over her suspension.
In a second adverse judgment in as many days, the North Gauteng High Court on Friday declared another report involving the South African Revenue Service (Sars), unlawful and invalid.
Nelisiwe Thejane returned to the Section 194 inquiry for cross-examination after giving evidence earlier on. She was put on the spot by Mkhwebane’s legal team, who questioned her motives for taking the stand.
Mkhwebane spent the last week of hearings without her senior counsel and was denied her request to be excused from proceedings.
