Islamabad: Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar has directed all investigation officers to follow policy of merit and submit challans of cases in the courts after collecting solid evidences.
He made these directions during a meeting with all investigation officers of four zones and directed to provide relief to people through investigation in a professional manner.
The meeting was attended among others by SSP (Investigation) Atta ur Rehman and DSP CIA Hakim Khan.
DIG (Operations) asked about all murder cases being investigated by Homicide Unit and directed to issue show causes notices to all relevant investigation officers, Station House Officers, In-Charge Homicide Unit for not ensuring arrest of criminals involved in several murder cases. ....

Qatar pledges to provide $60million to solve electricity crisis in Gaza

Doha: Chairman of Qatar s Gaza Reconstruction Committee Ambassador HE Mohammed Al Emadi, stated that the State of Qatar has pledged to provide an amount of $60 million to finance the project to supply the Gaza Strip with the gas necessary to solve the electricity crisis.
During the meeting held on Wednesday via video conference with the Prime Minister of Palestine Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, and the representative of the European Union to Palestine Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, Ambassador Al Emadi affirmed that this amount will be allocated for extending gas pipelines from the Israeli side, while the EU pledged to provide an amount of EUR 20 million to complete the extensions inside the Gaza Strip. ....

Murder of investigative journalist: Suspect pleads guilty

Vincent Muscat, one of the three men who were accused of assassinating investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in 2017 in Malta was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty.
Muscat admitted involvement in the car bombing that killed the reporter, which many believes to be ordered by top Malta establishment figures.
Known as the one-woman Wikileaks , Galizia uncovered networks of corruption in the country and abroad.
In a dramatic turn of events, Muscat changed his plea and agreed to provide information about the murder. He must also pay €42,000 ($51,000; £36,300) in court expenses.
The other two defendants brothers George and Alfred Degiorgio who were present in the courtroom did not speak. ....
