Walmart released a new PS5 stock today, and it did not go well. To an extent, every PS5 restock -- whether it's Walmart, GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon, Target, or any other retailer -- doesn't go well. Supply is still very limited whilst demand is still through the roof. That alone is a volatile combination. Throw in scalpers with stock-gobbling bots and website issues, and what you get is a consistently horrid time. That said, today's PS5 restock at Walmart took it to the next level. Typically, Walmart restocks are some of the better restocks, but not today. In fact, today's PS5 restock at Walmart may have been the most disastrous restock of 2021, if not since the release of the console last year.

Surprise PS5 stock drop confirmed but not from Argos, Currys or Very

Instead, GameByte is letting people sign up to their site via an email address to show interest in buying a console.
A pool of lucky customers will be pulled from this list and offered the chance to purchase a PlayStation 5.
This is a way some retailers are using to avoid scalpers and bots as it gives them more time to process the buyers.
Gamebyte has now shared the link to purchase a console with those registered on the Gamebyte store site via email.

Argos PS5 stock update: Bad news for gamers waiting for PlayStation 5 stock drop

This has led to frustration among gamers who have been caught out by the timing, and have missed their chance.
But according to the PS5 Instant stock tracker account on Twitter, Argos is not due to bring back the PS5 over the coming days.
The account warns: “Just to clear this up, Argos isn't releasing stock this week so stop staying up - these are rumours.
“Still waiting on AO and Very to release stock. After which, we'll be waiting for the next shipment near the end of March.”
There have also been suggestions that Currys will be releasing stock this week, but that might have been tied to a different promotion.

PS5 stock could become available to buy once again at a variety of top retailers soon. GAME, Currys, Argos, Very and Amazon UK are all tipped to get a PS5 restock during the week beginning March 1. And the GAME PS5 restock is rumoured to be the retailer's biggest stock drop so far, while Currys are also tipped to have a "huge" amount of PlayStation 5 stock to sell.

PS5 UK stock news: March will have 'biggest' PlayStation 5 restock

As more and more PS5 stock has come into the market the resale value of the PS5 is - thankfully - starting to come down which should help to deter scalping.
And in a big boost to PS5 fans that are yet to secure a console it looks like March could be the best time to purchase a PS5 so far.
According to the PS5 Instant Updates stock tracker account, March will mark the "biggest" PS5 restock yet for "all retailers" in the UK.
Earlier this week the account tweeted: "March restock will be the biggest yet for all retailers."
