Call for Entries: HUD Secretary's Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary’s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships nominations are open. This year we are also encouraging governors, mayors, and tribal leaders to nominate their philanthropic partners. We work in partnership with the Council on Foundations on this award that highlights best practices in public-philanthropic partnerships. Non-profits and foundations continue to be able to apply, but this year we are adding an additional opportunity for local leaders to recognize their public-philanthropic partnerships. Applications are due on March 28, 2022, and HUD will recognize all winners at a ceremony in June 2022. Below is a synopsis of the award.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Small Grant Maker Fills Resource Gaps for Local Homeless Service Providers
HUD User publishes a series of case studies based on federal, state, and local strategies that increase affordable housing opportunities and support sustainable community development. The projects and community development efforts featured in these reports have demonstrated innovation through a multitude of partnerships and initiatives.
The city of Philadelphia established the Homeless Assistance Fund, Inc. (HAFI) through the sale of a naval housing property. Since 2007, HAFI has assisted nearly 2,000 households by providing more than $3 million in grants to 19 organizations that use evidence-based practices to transition families and individuals from homeless shelters to permanent housing. PITTSBURGH, PA (July 15, 2021) The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Council on Foundations have recognized the Citi Foundation and Living Cities for the 2021 Secretary s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships for launching the City Accelerator initiative. The City of Pittsburgh is one of the U.S. cities participating in the City Accelerator.
