Qatar- Foundation students at WCM-Q inspired by Career Seminar Series


(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Foundation Programme students at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) had a chance to hear from qualified physicians, a WCM-Q alumna and current medical students about the training and career paths open to them in a series of inspiring and informative seminars.
The Career Seminar Series is run each semester at WCM-Q to provide Foundation students with both inspiration and practical advice about the many opportunities offered by a career in medicine. The seminars, which were previously held at the college, have been moved online during the pandemic.
In the first seminar of the new series, the Foundation students heard from a panel of current WCM-Q medical students comprised of fourth-year student Ramez Bodair, third-year Kawthar al-Najar and first-year Tala Abu Samaan, all of whom are graduates of the Foundation Programme. National judoka qualified for Tel Aviv Grand Slam final


Azerbaijani judoka Davud Mammadsoy (60kg) has qualified for the final of Tel Aviv Grand Slam 2021.
Mammadsoy defeated German Moritz Plafky, Indian Vijay Kumar, Kazakh Gusman Kyrgyzbayev and Russian Ramazan Abdullayev.
Notably, Tel Aviv Grand Slam 2021 brings together more than 400 fighters from 60 countries.
The International Judo Federation (IJF) selected Tel Aviv to host one of its iconic Grand Slam tournaments in February 2021. 
Israel has hosted the IJF s marquee Grand Prix tournament in Tel Aviv for the past two years. In 2018, Israel also hosted the European Judo Championships.
Founded in 1972, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation actively promotes this martial art across the country. Since 2015, the Federation has been headed by Rovnag Abdullayev. ....

Twenty-eight 1-5 year bowlers took part in the junior singles last weekend. At the completion of day one, seven men and five women had qualified.
Congratulations to Paul Price (Whangārei) who took out the men s division by defeating Roger File (Kamo) in a closely fought and very competitive match. After 17 ends, File was in the lead 14-11 and then Price had a good run of scoring on the next three ends to take the lead 18-14. ....
