Investment into quantum computing has "huge potential" for London, according to the UK's science minister, Andrew Griffith.

The UK government has unveiled an investment of £45 million for quantum computers and £27 million for novel semiconductors, as part of its bid to build the UK into a science and technology superpower.

Winners of the UKRI Quantum Testbed Competition will develop and deliver quantum computing testbeds at NQCC’s facilities in south Oxfordshire by March 2025. The seven successful applicants will receive funding through the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Technology Missions Fund and the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). This is part of a funding competition delivered by Innovate UK. They will be supported to undertake development, build and commissioning activities, to deploy an operationally ready quantum computing testbeds at NQCC.
