Premium Content Subscriber only We are all familiar with that romantic, ‘Peace on Earth’ Christmas fantasy depicted in Hollywood movies, where families stroll snow-lined streets without a care in the world, and everyone is smiling and happy, and looking forward to unwrapping all those presents under the tree. Unfortunately, we know the real world is not like that, and not least for the lack of snow. It has been a tough year for everybody, and for those families who were already struggling, events of 2020 may well have tipped them over the edge. While the Christmas fantasy is just a fantasy, the Christmas spirit is real within the Ipswich community, and it was particularly evident this year. ....
WELL it was a close shave, but we got there. With some last minute donations, we sincerely hope that none of the 80 Ipswich families listed in this year s Queensland Times Adopt a Family for Christmas campaign will go without this year. The Ipswich community put in a phenomenal effort to come to the rescue of the battling mums, dads, grandparents and kids who would have had a very difficult Christmas otherwise. The Base Support Services at Goodna still had two large families left to adopt this week, and it was great to see some final donations come in to ensure they would not miss out. ....

The Base Support Services at Goodna is our final charity organisation left with families to help ahead of Christmas.
The QT’s Adopt a Family for Christmas Campaign is back for 2020 and we are asking the community for their support. The good news is that out of the 80 families in need that we started the campaign with a few weeks ago, we are now down to just four. ....
