Ron Johnson (R-Wis.)—now in a very close and competitive race against Democratic candidate, Mandela Barnes—has tried to wiggle out of his recent unpopular comments that Social Security and Medicare should be eliminated as federal “entitlement programs” and be evaluated year to year by Congress as to whether they would be funded. Other Republicans, are with him, and Blake Masters has even proposed privatizing Social Security.
