There is no difference in the efficacy of IV ketamine and its intranasal counterpart for treatment-resistant depression, but cost and the speed of effect may be the factors that determine treatment choice.
New prospective data show more adult patients achieved clinical response with ketamine than the historic standard ECT over a 6-month regimen.
Based on the study results, investigators concluded that there is justification for a randomized clinical trial.
