It is going to be an emotional day. today it was an emotional day yesterday and i lot of emotional days ahead for the members this have community and employees at this store. this is opening two months after that racially-motivated mass shooting that federal and state authorities say the evidence shows the shooter planned for years. they say this man targeted this particular tops grocery store in this majority black community in order to try to kill as many black people as possible. but this store is an essential hub in this community, it s the only supermarket in about a four-mile radius and it s a store the community fought for years to get to come to the community. tops officials say there was never a question of whether they were going to open but more when and how. they have now fully gutted and full rerenovated the interior of this store, increased security measures, added memorial to the ten black lives lost just inside the entrance to the store. just now the employees finished ....

Back there today, what are people saying? reporter: well, poppy and jim, we talked to folks yesterday during the preopening ceremony with local dignitaries, clergy and the like, and there was a mix of emotions. that person we just showed, she s happy tops is reopening but she s not ready to come back. she said she had a hard time just entering the store yesterday when they were showing the employees and press all these renovations. people on the street are saying two months is too short, too soon to be reopening these wounds. but this store is essential to this community. i ve been told over and over again by pastors and employees, community members, it s a hub not just for food but it s a meeting place. this is also the only supermarket in a four-mile radius and one that it took the community a lot of years of fighting to bring to this location. but of course in the wake of this horrific mass killing that left ten black people dead from ....

Killing. so, we have here the authorities from the supermarket, the leaders, talking about the full renovation that was done, the memorial that was put in, inside the supermarket. there s a sort of waterfall and a poem honoring the victims. there s going to be a memorial outside at a later date. and of course, tomorrow is when they re going to have a soft reopening of this supermarket that is so important to this community. it is the only supermarket in about a four-mile radius in a place that people said, you know, formerly was a food desert. there are mixed feelings. some apprehensive about coming back into the store, whether customers or workers, and others saying, you know, we need this. we need this store to be open in our community so that we can have access to fresh food. but a very emotional time here as the families and the associates, the workers and staff here prepare to reopen. victor, alisyn? yeah, important center for that community. athena jones with the breaking news, ....

Two kilometer radius from the actual blast site and they insist that these are not military targets. they say the warehouses, stores, pharmacies, they were all amongst the areas that were hit. seven people missing, more than 70 they say were injured in that blast. this is actually the second time that town has been hit. there were similar disputes over what exactly was hit, but this is all part of a growing trend in the southern part of the country as ukrainians really ramp up their efforts to take back territory there. they are trying to target russian supply lines, hamper their efforts to get weapons to the front lines. they are also making progress in taking back land. one village that they seized is only 30 kilometers from kherson and kherson remember is a city that has long been under russian occupation, it is also entrenched in the russian system. since may people there were actually eligible to get russian ....
