Plans for Eid and Ramadan visits to cemetery announced


Cemetery prayers guide for Muslims
MUSLIM residents of a borough have been issued with coronavirus guidance for visits to gravesides to mark the end of Ramadan.
Blackburn with Darwen Council and the Lancashire Council of Mosques offered safety advice for those observing Islamic traditions and visiting Pleasington Cemetery this weekend.
Laylat al-Qadr, the 27th night of Ramadan which falls on Saturday or Sunday is a traditional time for Muslims to visit the graves of loved ones.

Covid vaccinations to be offered in Lancashire Mosque for the first time

Covid vaccinations will be offered in a Blackburn mosque for the first time.
A pop-up vaccination clinic will take place on Saturday 10 April between 10am-1pm at the Masjid E Saliheen on Didsbury Street, Blackburn.
Members of the mosque are working in partnership with NHS Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Blackburn with Darwen Council and Lancashire Council of Mosques (LCM) to offer coronavirus vaccinations to eligible local people. These include people over the age of 50, or in an “at-risk” clinically vulnerable group over 16, health and social care workers and carers who have not already had their first jab. ....

Charity aims to dispel Covid vaccine myths within the Asian community


A charity has released a series of videos aimed at dispelling Covid-19 vaccination myths within the Asian community.
The videos entitled ‘Dispelling the Myths’ features local health experts, religious leaders and vaccinators and has been launched by One Voice Blackburn.
Recent research shows that members of the South Asian heritage are most likely to abstain from taking the new vaccinations.
According to some reports, including GP online, there have been between 20 and 30 per cent  ‘Did Not Attends’ among the BAME community compared to 2/3 per cent with other sections of society in the UK. Covid-19 has disproportionately affected ethnic minority groups in developed countries. In the UK, people of black ethnicity have had the highest diagnosis rates. ....
