The New Brunswick Department of Health says there is no risk to public health in terms of soil contamination in Saint John, but residents still have concerns.
The Department of Health has updated its guidance on Saint John garden produce and cannabis that may have been exposed to smoke from the massive fire at American Iron and Metal's scrapyard three months ago, after four of 12 soil sampling sites showed "higher than expected levels of metals or chemicals."
Officials should know within a couple of weeks what, if any, harmful chemicals the fire last month at American Iron and Metal's scrapyard in Saint John left behind.
