Associates of Alexey Navalny reported Tuesday night that the politician's close ally and top strategist, Leonid Volkov, was attacked in Vilnius.
Leonid Volkov, a close ally of late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was assaulted outside his home in Vilnius on Tuesday, in an incident that sparked an uproar from the Lithuanian government.
Lithuania: Leonid Volkov, close to Navalny in exile, attacked in front of his home. Someone broke a car window and sprayed tear gas in his eyes before starting to hit Leonid with a hammer, said Kira Yarmysh, Navalny’s ex-spokesperson. Police confirmed that LeonidVolkov had been hospitalized. Leonidvolkov, 43, is one of Russia's leading opposition figures and was one of Navalny's lieutenants.
