Karnataka: Students head to Nethravati banks for online classes | Mangaluru News

Younger students are often accompanied by their parents every evening, so that they can download the homework assigned to them by their teachers
MANGALURU: Poor internet connectivity has forced nearly 40 students from Chendthimar and Manihalla to head towards the banks of Nethravati river in Bantwal every day, in order to attend online classes.
While a few students spend the whole day sitting on the banks of the river to particioate in classes, younger ones are often accompanied by their parents every evening, so that they can download the homework assigned to them by their teachers.
Ramya Jagadish, a beautician and the mother of class IV student Dishanth, told STOI: “Two months ago, my husband who works in a private hospital in Bengaluru, met district minister Kota Shrinivas Poojari and told him about the problems people in these areas are facing due to poor connectivity. There are at least 200 houses that don’t have proper mobile internet services. To make digital payments or upload a status message, we have to go to the river banks, where mobile internet can be accessed,’’ she said.
