All three major U.S. indexes advanced and the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq reached all-time closing highs in advance of Nvidia Corp's quarterly results and in anticipation of the release of the minutes U.S. Federal Reserve's most recent monetary policy meeting, both expected on Wednesday.
Asian investors fought Wednesday to revive a recent rally across markets as they turned their focus on the release later in the day of earnings from US tech darling Nvidia. After the previous day's retreat, most Asian markets rose Wednesday, with Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Seoul, Wellington, Taipei and Jakarta all in positive territory.
Against other currencies, the greenback was slight up ahead of the U.S. Memorial Day holiday next week.
