The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent for COVID-19, has spread across more than 114 countries worldwide. Researchers in the United States, France, and other countries have been able to identify the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in stool samples and wastewater during the first wave of the pandemic.
