Current fiscal will end up with exports of $25 bn: Razak

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s goods exports have increased to $22.5 billion in the first 11 months of the current financial year 2020-21 and it is hoped that the outgoing fiscal will end up with exports of $25 billion. This was announced by Adviser to PM on Commerce and Textile here on Thursday during the press briefing held on Economic Survey 2020-21.
However, according to the Economic Survey 2020-21, exports during July-March FY2021 amounted to US$18.7 billion as compared to US$17.4 billion in the same period last year, which shows an impressive growth of 7.1 percent as compared to the 2.2 percent in the same period last year. ....

LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood met Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at the CM office on Sunday, and it was decided in principle that a state-of-the-art International Expo Centre would be set up in Punjab. The CM directed the departments concerned to take all necessary steps in that regard at the earliest. Matters of promotion of cooperative agricultural farming in Punjab came under discussion during the meeting. The meeting also reviewed a proposal about establishment of Plug & Play Centre in Multan for the stitching industry. The CM promised that incentives would be offered to cotton and other cash crop growers and Punjab would be turned into a model region for cotton production. Under TIR system: First-ever shipment from Pakistan reaches Tashkent: Razak

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Monday informed that first-ever shipment from Pakistan under Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) reached Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 48 hours from Torkham, Pakistan.
The adviser said that the long-term vision of the government for trade and economic relations with Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs) is that “we want to make Pakistan a hub for trade, transit and transshipment”.
Razak Dawood said that connectivity with trading partners is vital for viable trade relations. He said that the structure and efficiency connectivity networks enable access to markets and should be considered a facet of the trade competitiveness. ....

ISLAMABAD: The government is working on budgetary incentives for 2021-22 to maintain its gains what it has so far achieved to put the country on way to industrialization, making solid ground for import substitution and emphasizing more focus on diversification in exports of the country, an adviser to the prime minister said Sunday.
In an exclusive chat with The News, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce, Textile and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that the commerce ministry has shifted its paradigm with the PM’s nod.
