Kenya is pursuing the development of the country's first research reactor, a stepping stone towards a future nuclear power programme, and invited an International Atomic Energy Agency mission to review the development of its national nuclear infrastructure.

A new training tool from the International Atomic Energy Agency provides modelling to develop the skilled workforce needed for new research reactor programmes, from planning to operation. The tool was recently piloted in Senegal, which is planning for a research reactor programme.
