PFCU donates backpacks, books to Great Start Ionia Sentinel Staff PORTLAND — A local credit union is donating backpacks filled with books and other supplies to benefit families in Ionia County. PFCU is collaborating with the Ionia County Intermediate School District to provide 300 backpacks filled with supplies for March is Reading Month for Ionia County families, according to a press release from the credit union. United Way EUP celebrating reading month Contributed To celebrate 2021 March is Reading Month, the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula and its Retired and Senior Volunteer program are hosting a reading event. Volunteers from the Coast Guard, Lake Superior State University, the United Way's Reading Buddies and more will be recorded reading a children's story. The story will be posted to the United Way's YouTube channel every day throughout the month of March. These videos will be shared across social media and in our classrooms to help promote reading and literacy in the area.
