Police said that at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon they were patrolling the parking lot of the Redding Aquatic Center on Quartz Hill Road when they noticed a man who “appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance” was seated in a parked vehicle. ....

The six summer camps at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park are maxed out, lead educator Katie Weber said. There s a summer camp for various themes from arts, science and forensic science to tech, sports and nature, she said. Because of COVID, Turtle Bay day camps were split into two cohorts and are actually accepting more kids than in previous years, Weber said. She said she also has noticed a lot more people wanted to get into camp this year as well. ....
He was 84. McGeorge died Wednesday after a brief illness, the city of Redding announced Thursday. In addition to being known as Redding s Mr. Big Mac, McGeorge participated in a number of civic organizations, including the Asphalt Cowboys, Sons of Italy, The Exchange Club, the Redding Chamber of Commerce and the Mercy Advisory Board. Former city manager Kurt Starman said McGeorge gave him his first job. Dave worked tirelessly to improve Redding, not only during his time as mayor and council member but as an active business leader and community volunteer over the past 50 years, Starman was quoted in a city of Redding news release. ....
