The National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy buzzed with excitement as the inaugural International Disability Art Festival 2024 commenced today, marking a significant milestone in arts and inclusivity.
DARE (Disability Arts: Redefining Empowerment) is a three-year project aimed at building understanding and confidence amongst the disability and the arts sector in Bangladesh and is aimed to dispel the social stigma associated with disability, and build an accessible bridge.
The International Disability Art Festival 2024, an inclusive festival, is the culmination event of the British Council's project DARE (Disability Arts: Redefining Empowerment), which will take place from 26 to 27 April 2024 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka.
The 20 minute technical show was showcased at the Liberation War Museum. Directed by differently abled British theatre director, Ramesh Meyyappan, the play emphasised on the theme of the 1971 genocide and Liberation War without the use of any dialogues.
