election is a sense of growing confidence about the economy. that is not translated in to increased approval ratings or for that matter even a sense that the country is on the right track. that is rooted in personal judgments about the president. gallup for example came out with ratings year long summary of their polling and all 50 states. he was at 42% or below approval in eight states that he won. that is a -- that is a ominous number for republicans but it's a very personal judgment and i think the fact that, what was happening kind of outside the room yesterday with mitch mcconnell saying no need to protect bob mueller and with paul ryan saying we need to cleanse the fbi, republicans on the hill have dropped the earlier posture and some independents have moved in to a reflexive position to defend the president and the issue of whether you believe, whether voters believe they will provide any meaningful check on a president that 55, 60% of
