A COVID-19 outbreak at a Corvallis care facility for dementia patients continues to grow, according to the latest information from the Oregon Health Authority. As of Sunday, there were 15 cases of the disease associated with Willamette Springs Memory Care, according to a weekly update released on Wednesday by OHA. That number was up two from the previous week. Outbreaks at congregate care facilities can involve residents, staff, members of their households or other close contacts. A 90-year-old Benton County man was among six new COVID-19-related deaths around the state reported Wednesday by the Oregon Health Authority. The man, whose name was not released, tested positive on April 16 and died Monday at his residence, OHA said in a news release. He reportedly had underlying health conditions. The other victims ranged in age from 42 to 82, with one in Douglas County and two each in Jackson and Multnomah. The latest fatalities brought the stateâs death toll from COVID-19 to 2,466 since the start of the pandemic. Benton County has now recorded 19 deaths attributed to the disease, while neighboring Linn has tallied 63. ....
Oregon added 816 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, including 48 in the mid-valley, the Oregon Health Authority reported on Wednesday as case counts surged for the third consecutive week. OHA also reported three new deaths attributed to the disease: a 66-year-old woman in Tillamook County, an 88-year-old woman in Union County and a 56-year-old man in Klamath County. Both women had underlying health conditions, OHA reported, but the man did not. The latest fatalities raise Oregonâs death toll to 2,449 since the start of the pandemic.
