China Wednesday November 15, 2023 launched world’s first Next Generation Internet Service that can transmit data at a rate of 1.2 Terabits per second (Tbps).

China has smashed the record for the fastest internet connection, launching a blisteringly fast service that can transfer 150 high-definition movies every second.

China has taken the wraps off the world’s fastest internet speed service capable of 1.2 terabit (TiB) per second (1,200 gigabits per second). About the tech: Unveiled Monday at a press conference at Tsinghua University, the "backbone network" is a collaboration between the university, China Mobile, Huawei Technologies and China Education and Research Network (CERNET) Corporation, according to the South China Morning Post. The project is part of China’s Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI), which launched in 2013.

The network will play a critical and active role in supporting the health and care research system to bring innovative new treatments and care to patients, carers and the public.

Network can send the equivalent of 150 films per second, 3 times faster than nearest rival in the US and 2 years earlier than industry forecasts.
