By Web Desk Dec 23, 2020 4:46 PM TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) A new endowment has been established at Indiana State University in memory of Dr. Paul W. Mausel, a renowned emeritus professor who taught in the Department of Earth and Environmental Systems (EES). A $25,000 gift from Mausel’s wife Jean will establish the Dr. Paul W. Mausel EES Graduate Research/Travel Award. The endowment will support research, experiential learning and professional development for ISU graduate students studying geographic information systems, remote sensing and geospatial techniques. Mausel, who passed away in 2013, was a pioneer in the field of remote sensing, which a government website describes as the measurement of “reflected and emitted radiation at a distance (typically from satellite or aircraft)” for purposes such as tracking growth of a city and changes in farmland or forests over several years or decades. ....
