Sexual assaults can occur any time and anywhere. One victim recounted how she was assaulted twice in two very different situations. The first occurred when the victim, who asked to remain anonymous, was walking home. She was 19 years old, and she was assaulted by a stranger. She ran to the nearest pay phone and dialed 911. Although police said the perpetrator fit the description of someone who had been involved in other rapes, police likely never found him. The second assault occurred five years ago, when the victim was in her mid-30s. This time, the aggressor was someone she knew, and a well-respected person in the community.
