MPs go head-to-head over responsible lending bill

Several MPs went head-to-head at the second reading debate in the Houses of Parliament, with members of the Opposition particularly concerned over the impact of the repeal of responsible lending laws.
On Monday (15 March), the National Consumer Credit Protection Amendment (Supporting Economic Recovery) Bill 2020 – which focuses on amending the credit laws so that they remove responsible lending obligations (RLOs) and extend the best interests duty to more credit assistance providers, among other changes – was debated in Parliament during its second and third reading.
The debates, held in the Houses of Parliament, followed on from the release of the Senate economics legislation committee final report for its inquiry into the matter ....

Power breakdown on Jan 9: CCOE wants to know if responsible penalised

ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Energy was informed on Thursday that the technical problems had resulted into countrywide breakdown of power on January 9 this year. The committee inquired whether all those were penalised who were responsible for such earlier fiasco or no action was taken against them.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar here in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Power Division presented the report of the inquiry into the power outage across the country on January 9, 2021. A detailed briefing was made to the committee on the technical reasons which led to the countrywide breakdown. The Power Division informed the committee that three separate inquiry reports had clearly proved that the incident at the Guddu Power Complex was a trigger point that led to the breakdown of the entire power system. ....

One of the defendants on trial for the infamous fatal Red Fox Tavern robbery allegedly denied he was responsible in a cheeky way.
A man with name suppression and Mark Joseph Hoggart are on trial for the 1987 aggravated robbery of the pub and murder of its owner, Christopher Bush, in Waikato.
