Action Civics: Joe Biden Set to Push Critical Race Theory on U.S. Schools

The woke revolution in the classroom is about to go federal. In an early but revelatory move, President Biden’s Department of Education has signaled its intent to impose the most radical forms of Critical Race Theory on America’s schools, very much including the 1619 Project and the so-called anti-racism of Ibram X. Kendi. (Kendi’s “anti-racism” which advocates a massive and indefinite expansion of reverse discrimination is more like neo-racism.) Biden is obviously co-opting conservatives’ interest in reviving traditional U.S. history and civics to deliver its perfect opposite federal imposition of the very ideas conservatives aim to combat. ....

LIBERTYVILLE, IL Suburban school districts across the Chicago area faced many tough decisions in the last year, and plenty of criticism, regarding their handling of schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
And as we head into Election Day on Tuesday, several school board races are packed with newcomers hoping to get their school district back on track. They year also brought strong divisions between those pushing for in-person learning during a year when students learned mostly via Zoom and others that wanted to keep their kids at home. ....

Ball-Chatham school board hopefuls debate identity politics

Campaigns for Ball-Chatham s school board are underway. The six candidates gathered virtually March 4 for a forum in advance of the April 6 election. There are four seats up for election.
According to 2020 figures from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), of about 4,750 students in the public school district in Chatham, 77.8% are white, 7.4% are of two or more races, 5.6% are Black, 5.2% are Asian and 4% are Hispanic. Meanwhile, 100% of teachers are white. Much of the forum discussed inclusion and teaching in culturally competent ways. ....
