ICYMI: Cunha to make early return from hamstring injury - O'Neil

Wolves striker Matheus Cunha could be back in Premier League action at Burnley today after some late-night phone calls to boss Gary O’Neil pleading for a return. The Brazil forward has been sidelined since suffering a serious hamstring injury just over seven weeks ago and initial scans estimated a 10-12-week recovery period. But he returned to full training last week and has been pushing O’Neil to include him in his plans.“He will definitely be in the match-day squad barring anything going wrong between now and then,” said O’Neil on Monday. “He’s miles ahead of schedule. He was knocking my door down to be involved in the Aston Villa game (on Saturday) but we have to make sure it’s right for him.“We obviously had a setback or two already this season from injuries so if you have medical information that he shouldn’t quite be ready yet (you have to listen). But you have Matheus Cunha who looks ready and tells you he’s ready. He has rung me about four times at 9.30 or 10 o’clock at night telling me how ready he is! But I want to help him because I understand he feels ready but we need to make sure we tick off enough boxes.”Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (knee) will miss the trip to Turf Moor but Craig Dawson (groin) is pushing to return.
