The Adair County Democratic Club held a candidate’s forum at the Rieger Armory on Thursday, Feb. 15. Two candidates for Kirksville City Council and two candidates for the Kirksville R-3 School Board appeared at the event.

State of the City address scheduled for Feb. 26 | Kirksville Daily Express

The city of Kirksville will hold the annual State of the City address on Monday, Feb. 26, at 5:30 p.m., at the Rieger Armory and Community Center, 500 S. Elson Street, in Kirksville. The State of the City address will be delivered by Kirksville Mayor Zac Burden. Hear about key projects that will happen or begin this year, along with other priorities for the city in 2024. Kirksville City Manager speaks to Rotary Club of Kirksville | Kirksville Daily Express

The speaker at the Nov. 29 Rotary Club of Kirksville meeting was City Manager Mari Macomber. She spoke about the budget put together for 2024 and the plan for how to spend the $3.5 million ($3.2M plus funds from other areas) received under the federal American Rescue Plan of 2021. Public input was sought and the six project categories receiving the most votes were North Park soccer fields, housing demolition, trail funding, sidewalk improvements, Rieger Armory purchase/updates and housing restoration.
