A letter given to some parents opposed to their children wearing masks at school has given rise to controversy within the Ripon Unified School District.

Ripon Elementary School teacher Texas Keo has been named the 2021 San Joaquin County Teacher of the Year by the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Keo, who has been teaching at Ripon Elementary School for the past 14 years, is a model to follow.  She currently teaches transitional kindergarten through third grade as a Title 1 Response to Intervention teacher for reading and math.
