A few weeks before Christmas, San Tan Ford, a dealership in the Phoenix area, invited car buyers to gawk at the Mustang Mach-E, a highly anticipated electric car that Ford Motor recently started selling.
The event drew some 200 people, many driving BMWs, Audis, Subarus and other brands San Tan rarely gets as trade-ins. Ten people put down deposits for a Mach-E including three who arrived in Teslas. ....

ALBANY The perennial push to allow direct sales of electric vehicles like Tesla and the new Rivian truck should get some traction this year as a major green energy group has joined the effort.
Tesla Motors and traditional auto dealers have for several years now battled over whether vehicles can be sold directly to consumers, similar to how Apple computers operates its Apple stores.
The dealers, who are typically franchisees and agree to purchase and retail cars ranging from Chevrolets and Fords to BMWs, oppose that idea because it cuts them out of the equation. They have since 2014 successfully fended off bills in the state Legislature that would allow Tesla to operate a fleet of statewide direct-to-consumer stores. Tesla currently has only five stores in the New York City metropolitan area. ....

Rivian Could Offer OEM Vinyl Wraps For The R1T And R1S

The wrap looks similar to those found on pre-production prototypes simply trying to hide their design, but in this case, Rivian hinted in its tweet that the wrap actually has meaning, being inspired by the El Capitan rock formation in Yosemite National Park. The company seems to have an affinity for the mountain, as they also have their “El Cap Granite” paint named after it.
On to those paint options, We could see a wrap working as a lower-cost alternative to some of their more premium finishes. While nothing has been confirmed yet, the tweet seems to suggest that wraps might be coming to the electric vehicles in the future. ....
