Terrain vehicles will be allowed to travel in Baraboo later this year after the city passed an ordinance Tuesday allowing them on all streets, except for Highway 33.
Terrain vehicles are one step closer to being permitted on Baraboo streets after the Common Council passed the first reading of an ordinance allowing them to travel in city limits.
Baraboo voters will select a mayor and fill three Common Council seats in the April election.
Allowing terrain vehicles on streets in Baraboo remains a hotly contested topic for city residents and officials.
"I cannot emphasize enough" the importance of these positions "to the ongoing safety in our schools," Baraboo Police Chief Rob Sinden said of the resource officer program.
