A huge three-mile wide fire which ripped across Dartmoor was accidentally caused by a member of the public who attended a 'gathering' on the moors. Firefighters battled the roaring blaze through the night on Thursday after it began on a strip of remote moorland near Tavistock, Devon. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed five pumps and other units to tackle the blaze which was put out by 10am the next day. No injuries were reported. The fire roared in spite of the 'dangerous' blizzards and sub-zero temperatures brought by the 'Baltic Beast' - or Beast from the East II.
