Kamloops council signs off on school site acquisition charges
New fees in the works would see developers help pay for land for new schools in Kamloops. Marvin Kwiatkowski, the city’s development director, said the fees, called school site acquisition charges, are similar to that of development cost charges, which are collected when building permits are issued. The charges would be tied to new residential development. Kwiatkowski said the fees have been levied elsewhere, such as Kelowna, as a result of growth and are required for the school district to receive capital funding.
